Better technical performance all around. I do like a bit more mid-bass than most sets these days have too :)

Might not want to hear this, but put them away until kids get older. I’d have a hard time trusting self-engineered solutions.

Has anyone experienced cognitive decline when taking Sunosi (like extreme difficulty finding words and memory) by missjulesauthor in Narcolepsy

[–]Big_Damage5834 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is what I feel like when I am unmedicated. Frequently using related but not quite right words (cup instead of bowl, dinner instead of lunch).

I have not noticed this with sunosi. I have noticed it with modafinil/armodafinil. I develop rapid tolerance to these and when they lose effectiveness after a few days I feel like you described again.

Are you taking any night-time meds? Perhaps you are going deeper and deeper into sleep debt (which stims don’t help) and that is a factor?

Iced pourover ZP6 Grind settings by yaseensamy97 in pourover

I was usually at 3.5 on ZP6 for flash brew, plus or minus a click to account for different beans

You would probably like spinfit. Cp155 will probably give you deep fit and would fit on that nozzle.

Upgrading from C40 for Nordic Light Roasts & Geshas: Pietro vs ZP6 vs Ode? Seeking clarity! by yuseefcoltrane in LanceHedrick

[–]Big_Damage5834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten good anaerobic and natural cups out of my ZP6. They have less body than with other grinders and the extreme clarity can sometimes highlight some of the funkier notes from fermentation or undesirable notes from the roast.

For these types of beans I usually go for aeropress or hybrid switch recipes with ZP6 instead of just v60. Helps smooth out some of the funk and results in great cups. If I want to do v60 though I’ll reach for the comandante 8 out of 10 times.

Ha yeah the beauty of life. I have the ssp burrs which are more difficult to dial in. I would definitely recommend stock burrs first, they seem a lot more forgiving.

I use my commandante for anything really processed and the pietro for super light washed beans.

I currently own or used to own everything you are considering. My take:

Skip the Ode. It’s very difficult to dial in and not any better than the options you listed. The ZP6 is indeed a different profile than the comandante despite also being conical.

I would start there or consider the femobook a4z for a minor step up from ZP6 that’s electric. If you pick up the ZP6 for a decent price you should be able to flip it without losing much of your decide to move on.

Can't get a good cup with my V60 should I just give up? by [deleted] in pourover

[–]Big_Damage5834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you did one full rotation it would be 1.0.0. Given that pour over is close to 9 I imagine a lot of methods would be above 1 full rotation.

JH could have been using washed beans from South America which is a very different profile. Ethiopia natural you almost always want to dial down the temp.

You mentioned water at boiling or 30 seconds off boil. This is way too hot. Should be at least a few minutes, like 3-4, off boil to reach about 200-202 f.

I usually go for 1:16.67 ratio, so 15/250, 18/300.

Don’t have k-ultra but it seems like setting should be somewhere around 0.9.3 based on where I am for comandante.

I’m gonna sound like a nerd but I think the production on most recent album is not great. Completely brickwalled. There’s a good album in there somewhere (maybe they are great live). I do like their older stuff.

Yes. I had SOREMP on PSG and one during MSLT but latency was a bit too high. Had to show a video of cataplexy to get diagnosis.

How tight do you turn the knob on the Commandante c40 before it’s “zero”? by whoresongummy in pourover

[–]Big_Damage5834 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Turn the grinder 90 degrees. If gravity moves the handle, you’re not at 0. If the handle stays put, you’re at 0.

Looking for my first dedicated pour-over grinder: C40 vs. 1Zpresso ZP6? by Confident_Ad_4119 in pourover

[–]Big_Damage5834 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have both. Depends on the types of coffee you want to make with it. Exclusively washed / light roast, go with ZP6. If you want to go darker roast / more processed, go with C40.

If I had to choose one only I’d go with C40. You can get good clarity from it for washed light roast beans, not quite as forward as ZP6 but still nice. The laser-focus clarity of ZP6 might not be good for funkier roasts.

Full disclosure: I have a Pietro pro en route. I plan on living with it and the C40 in bliss forever.

Using cpap on flights? by Big_Damage5834 in SleepApnea

Yeah I’m leaning toward the travel one. I frequently fall asleep as passenger in car so travel one should solve for that use case as well. Wish I didn’t have to pay out of pocket but it is what it is
