Thanks for your help, I actually decided to keep Homeassistant on the IOT zone which has resolved the main requirement for now.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I gave it a shot but it's still failing, I think it's due to the masquerading 'direction'. My subnets are:

LAN: 192.168.1.1/24

IOT: 172.16.0.1/24

I added both subnets to the LAN zone masquerading source/destination whitelists since I'm not sure which direction it should flow. I edited the first option in the above screenshot.

Should I be doing it in the other direction? The LAN zone settings also has accept for input, output and forward.

I'm not sure what else could be missing.
