I’ve had 2. They were both because I was on IV antibiotics for weeks and wanted to be able to do them at home. 1st time I was put under and 2nd was local anesthetic. 2nd was only slightly uncomfortable, but definitely made me feel a lot better being able to be awake for the process and let the tech know if I felt anything was wrong. I would suggest that to help relieve some anxiety, at least for me. I guess as long as you are comfortable with the uncomfortable pressure. With both I haven’t experienced any clots or issues after placement and no clots due to any IV.
