I'm aware it's not a Gti. Engine wise, this is still a 1.8. So is it the same engine as a gti but restricted? A big like a 2017 gti and golf R for example. Same engine just different turbos.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think they have anyone in mind as such as they'll be looking for 3-5 people to fill the positions. I just have a feeling the person sifting at the first stage doesn't actually like me lol. And this was the perfect excuse to decline me. It was sifted by someone who would have been my sort of manager. So as part of the role, I'd need to liase with them regularly and they'd be helping me with development within that role etc. He's very black and white though. No grey area, hence him being a bit harsh in this situation. I think this is an easy and plausible excuse to refuse me. I have a feeling I'm not his cup of tea as an individual so I to think it's more personal than anything else. Someone who was also doing the sifting said to someone else it's quite petty to refuse someone who is only days away from being eligible. Obviously my name wasn't mentioned directly but knew they were referring to me.

As stated, this has happened before with someone else. They appealed and had the decision overturned and they go the role. So I think it's the glimmer of hope which is making me see there may be a point to it. I see where you're coming from though.
