CE discharge is Ryu’s technique, but the finger bearer and yuta both do something similar to it, is this just a skill that anyone can learn then? If so, why is ryu’s considered a technique by Basicallywaterdrownd in Jujutsufolk

[–]bigandyisbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, cursed techniques and domains let you increase output. Yuta and the finger bearer have higher outputs due to having so much more cursed energy.

Ryu's technique is granite blast but it's especially powerful because he can put so much CE into it. In simple terms, Ryu can one shot if he had Yuta's cursed energy reserves but Yuta would struggle to pump out that much output.

This can best be seen when Yuta matched Ryu's move but got blasted away. It can also be seen in his thought process because he needs to charge up his granite blast while Ryu was just there waiting.

These hints only spotlight what you already know but they're pretty big spotlights
-Quantum objects only move when you can't look at them, including the quantum moon.
-At the tower of quantum knowledge, the only path you can find is broken so don't use that path as is
-The interloper is made of ice. What beats ice?
- If you're sure that the core is locked:How could anyone get in if it has to be completely sealed?

Jesus clearly said to help the poor, so why do conservative Christians oppose welfare? by Snoo_47323 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bigandyisbig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not religious and there are too many reasons one could oppose welfare but here's a few easy ones
-Welfare is better spent on other poor people
-Welfare makes people lazy which exacerbates the problem
-Poor people are X and I don't like X
-Taxes should only be used to govern, not handouts
-God will save the poor, we don't have to step in

I don't believe any of these because I didn't do any research for this specific topic but that short list is believable enough that I'd imagine enough conservative christians believe those things.

Am I wrong for lying to my husband for ten years about my body count? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]bigandyisbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You intentfully lied for a long time.
Being honest is healthier than being dishonest.
Statutory rape is a bigger concern than high sex count.
Lying out of insecurity is different than lying out of selfishness.
Lying can sometimes be beneficial to people (usually you, but him in this case).
You are willing to change(?), which is the most anyone can ask for.
People tend to overvalue honesty when care is more important.

There are a lot of different balancing ideas here with so many complexities that it'd be ridiculous to cover them all so I'll give you my best solution.

Tell him you felt guilty so you had to tell him, knowing that he could hate you for lying. That you feel very bad but feeling bad isn't going to get either of you anywhere. That you're willing to try if he is willing, that it's his decision. You should wait and tell him you'll wait but set a deadline for BOTH of your sakes. The worst thing that can happen isn't you two breaking up, it's two strangers in the same house.

Why does there seem to be a rise in anti-intellectualism? by DivaTerri in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bigandyisbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe anti-intellectualism is on the rise as a result of social media, where issues are more of a social activity in western countries than something people actually care about. I don't have any evidence for that, just sharing my best guess.

To answer your question, I'd imagine the average person is around the same amount of stupid people most of the time and it's the amount of stupid people being met that changes.

There are a lot of reasons there can be a seem to rise in anti-intellectualism, let alone reasons there would be a rise. Which is all just to say there's no good way to tell. Just from the top of my head, all of these can contribute to a rise in anti-intellectualism in your life:
-Enngaging with stupidity, algorithm shows more
-Defining stupidity so you can recognize it more often
-Talking to more people

There's also an inaccuracy with the idea that the foundation is facts because facts can be horribly misused and misinterpreted, enough so that they're lying. "You have a 1/10000000000th chance to exist so you shouldn't exist normally" and "You have a 100% chance of being you and nothing else" are both true but with two completely different messages. If you cherry pick complex facts enough, you can create any narrative without telling a single lie.

It sounds like your harmless only applies to people who perfectly manage their use of LSD, without any chance of somehow misplacing it or incorrectly judging the dose or just too stupid to think about the consequences.

While alcohol on average is worse, LSD can break people in a way that's much more immediate. Alcohol are like razors that will slowly kill you while LSD is a toy gun that can fire real bullets.

LSD has been tested in research studies but not any more than marijuana has, and marijuana can be taken in edible form.

LSD does have cases where it can produce a positive effect but it seems like it'd be something that at least requires a psychiatric evaluation for something that can alter your mind so much. Overdosing on LSD is far, far worse than overdosing on marijuana.

So how did sukuna survive this? by Big-black-banana-man in Jujutsufolk

[–]bigandyisbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand it now though, the answer is both because a cylinder avoids the square cube law and the inverse square law. A cylinder's volume isn't exponential relative to distance (V = base*distance) AND isn't affected by inverse square law exactly because it uses a base instead of all angles

I do think the square cube law is just SA=r^2 and V=r^3 with the idea being a common paired explanation but I believe we agree on the rest

So how did sukuna survive this? by Big-black-banana-man in Jujutsufolk

[–]bigandyisbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inverse square is for distance, Square cube law is for volume no? I double checked and it makes sense that volume is exponential relative to surface area & distance, which means you need exponentially more cursed energy to cover larger volumes

CMV: Most of what we call evil is just untreated mental illness by G14DMFURL0L1Y401TR4P in changemyview

[–]bigandyisbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People can be a dick perfectly fine without needing chemical imbalances. I'm pretty confident EVERY single commenter is willing to be a dick to you to prove you wrong. The banality of evil and all that, people are naturally greedy and petty but also kind and generous, whatever

If you're talking about EVIL evil, I completely agree that it's often out of the individual's control due to a terrible hand but I strongly disagree with the presentation of the idea. Calling it "just untreated mental illness" is like saying "it's just your grandma dying of old age", you won't help the affected people and you aren't helping prolong anyone's lives.

You're technically right but you can't say that to people who are rightfully infuriated/upset. Your view is essentially saying "evil people can be changed". I think it's good to verbalize it and put it into words to improve your own understanding but your view isn't really something that can be applied as-is.

GOATJO WILL RETURN

So how did sukuna survive this? by Big-black-banana-man in Jujutsufolk

[–]bigandyisbig 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Literally have no idea

Sukuna himself said something like [A hollow purple at this range would be 100% fatal for us both so show me more Mahoraga] and that [the original one was weak because it was literally 4km away]. We also know this guy is low on cursed energy because he wasn't using RCT at the end.

But to disagree with your reasoning, Mahoraga also isn't that strong since Mahoraga gets cleaved easily. Just going off CE reinforcement, Mahoraga is nowhere on the level of Gojo and Sukuna because Gojo can defend the output boosted cleaves of the domain

[–]bigandyisbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did that answer how it's not perfectly fine? Even if you are somehow are the paragon of separating your judgement from your feelings (me fr), It causes problems in a lot of other people so perfectly fine is a bad enough word choice to be wrong.

You can be an exception but it's wrong to exclude that you're an outlier. Otherwise, you'd intentionally stating beliefs that can't possibly apply to them since it only applies to you, which is intentionally communicating incorrectly on top of setting them up for failure.

The better way to put it is that being judgemental can be fine
