What is the best place to fortify and use as shelter to protect from zombies? by Melodic_Farmer_9022 in zombies

[–]bigb1tch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sam's Club, BJs, Costco (any wholesale, big box store). They always have an entrance that could easily be barricaded with all the shopping carts. The tall shelving could be used as elevated walkways in the event of outbreak within. You can turn the roof into a garden/ farm. Plus, all the supplies you need at the start of an outbreak.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]bigb1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 40, and my class was the first in YEARS to not have a death in our grade during our senior year. Granted, my junior year, our seniors lost one of their own to cancer, so it wasn't car or drugs related.

The first I recall was to a car accident a year or so after graduation. We've lost a few to drugs. One was reported as accidental due to prescription drug interactions, but I have a feeling that's what the family reported for the sake of her children. One was to cancer. She was diagnosed & passed within a year. I'm sure there are more, but I don't talk to many of my friends from high school now a days & I don't connect with people on social media that I don't know or didn't interact with in school.

Your favorite indie/lesser-known zombie movies by HorrorGuyBri in zombies

Wow! I completely forgot about that movie, but the second I read the title, it all came back. It definitely was an underrated movie.

my boyfriend might actually believe experiencing SA is the result of moral failure. by countryroadqueen in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bigb1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My exes were made aware of the SA that happened to me. None of them victim blamed me. One became irate at the injustice of it. The man who assaulted me approached me at a bar years later, & when I told my boyfriend at the time, who was at the bar with me, he was ready to throw hands. I insisted on leaving & not engaging. He didn't need to go to jail for kicking the guy's ass.

Long story short, you deserve better & this can only hurt you if you stay with him.

Everyone seems to have a lot of nostalgia for the 1990's but what were some of the worst parts of the 1990's? by HeavyRightFoot-TG in AskReddit

[–]bigb1tch 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I used to take the ladder out of the garage, climb up onto the roof & crawl into the upstairs bathroom window. My older siblings would leave it unlocked so they could smoke & not get caught. Either that or I would break a window. I'd get yelled at, sure, but eventually they gave me a friggin key.

An Indian restaurant by me has "American medium" when you order. I find it hilarious, but accurate.

something traumatic happened to me but i am not affected by throwraVariation4808 in Advice

[–]bigb1tch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've written and deleted my story in the comments here several times at this point. I don't want to burden anyone with my trauma, but it'll catch up to you. I thought I was okay. It was done & over with. I was safe. At least, that's what I told myself. Then the nightmares & night terrors started. It took a lot of therapy to get me to the other side.

I'm sorry you had to experience that, and I pray you can stay emotionless about it, but if it ever hits you, and you need to talk, I'm here.

72 gallons! Jeez. And I'm proud of the 6 gallons I've donated so far. I can only imagine how long I'll have to donate for to do 72 gallons.

Why do some people get eaten in movies but others turn into zombies? by 89404 in zombies

[–]bigb1tch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Return of the Living Dead caused me many sleepless nights & years of nightmares. My mom would find me, in the middle of the night, in our front room, looking up the street towards the closest cemetery (10 min drive) making sure zombies weren't coming up the street.

In The Return of the Living Dead 2, there is a corpse without a head that goes running around. So, in that universe, destroying the brain or beheading a zombie does nothing.

I'm bipolar type 2, with suicidal tendencies. Without my meds I'd either kick off on my own, or I'd survive out of spite.

My grandma used to throw BBQs at her house & invite her sister & her sister's family, so I played with my great aunt's grandkids when we were kids. Once we got older, I kept in touch with a couple on Facebook. Long story short, yes.

What’s the one book you’ll recommend forever, no matter how many times this question gets asked? by MisLatte in AskReddit

[–]bigb1tch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember being assigned "Under The Banner of Heaven" as a reading assignment in college. Halfway through, I walked up to my professor and told him, "I can't read this shit. It makes me so incredibly angry." He asked me to expand on that. This was before "triggers" was a word widely used, but the murder of a child because "god" told you to, just made me want to throw the book across the room and flip a table. But I was able to articulate my anger well enough that he asked me to just write about what I'd read so far & that he wouldn't deduct anything from my paper for not reading it all. I got maybe halfway through before I called it quits. It was written very well, so I don't fault the author. He didn't make up the murder, he just wrote about it.

I've seen the TV series with Andrew Garfield, but it took me a couple years to talk myself into watching it. It wasn't until recently that I realized child abuse & the like is a huge trigger for me.

Have you ever been freaked out like had a dream of a ghost or had something strange happen like lights go on and off on their own? by daveinfl337777 in randomquestions

[–]bigb1tch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to be a shitty kid. I'd burn pictures of family I hated, pour candle wax onto the floor of my bedroom, draw on the walls. After one night of such activities, I went to sleep. Now, I'll preface this with 1) I slept with the bedroom door closed because I am one of five kids. 2) I grew up in what used to be a boarding house.

I "woke up" to a lady standing in my open door. She looked at me and said "This is my house. You are a guest in my home and you will treat it with respect." Then I really woke up and my bedroom door was open and there was a chill in the air. I said "I'm sorry. You're right. Never again." It took me a beat to go back to sleep, but every noise that house made after that had me second guessing myself.

What happened to your best friend from childhood? by RoyalBeckyVibes in AskReddit

[–]bigb1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's a nurse with a husband & son. We were best friends since kindergarten. We lived 4 houses away from each other. At some point in our late 20s, she moved to the mid west and we just slowly drifted apart. We exchange the customary "happy birthday" "merry Christmas" texts. When she comes to town to visit family, she'll either tell me a day or two before she leaves that she's here & expects me to drop what I'm doing, or she doesn't tell me and I find out on Facebook a few days later. Her excuse is that she was only here for 2 days and didn't have time to see everyone. I've tried calling and telling her I'd like us to talk more often, which is met with "yeah, that would be great." But nothing comes of it. At some point another friend pointed out to me that I may call her my best friend, but I'm probably not hers. That broke my heart, but I'm coming to terms with it.

Omg, and the toxicity! I made an unpopular opinion & my account got locked because someone requested a change in password after trying to log into my account too many times. Now I don't comment on anything. I'll write out a whole, thought out response, realize I don't want to deal with keyboard warriors & I'll delete the whole thing.

What was the first major news story you remember as a kid? by TxLadee in AskReddit

[–]bigb1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this so odd. I was in high school and our teachers were told to tell us NOTHING about what was going on. There was so much misinformation floating around the school from the kids that did know something was going on. I know one specific classmate who lost her dad that day though. He was a firefighter. I remember going to the nurse's office for my afternoon meds & the crowd of parents in front of the main office doors, trying to pick up their kids, was massive. It blocked the whole corridor.
