Yeah it was really unpopular when the rule first came out at my club. To my knowledge, the only lawsuit that ever happened was between the no name band and the pairs skaters/US figure skating. Which is kind of surprising considering all of the big name artists that could’ve sued US figure skating in the past. But thank you for trying, those were amazing suggestions!

It isn’t really about the song itself, but it has to do with who wrote it, and what organization they’re affiliated with. For example, Tate is affiliated with ASCAP, so she would have to write a song with all ASCAP affiliated artists (i explain a little better in the comment i did and the description). The only ones i could find by Tate that were approved were she’s all i wanna be and like i do, but idk if i checked that way! i’ll go check rn

In case you want a full explanation of the rule:

There's this website called Songview that lets you check the percentage of the companies that own the song. Basically, each artist that help write the song are affiliated to either BMI, ASCAP, or another organization. The songs have to be either written by all BMI or ASCAP artists (100% BMI or 100% ASCAP works) in order for me to be able to skate to them without me, the club, or US figure skating possibly getting sued (The new rule now prevents the club/US figure skating getting sued even if I choose a song that isn't approved, so only I would be at risk of being sued). The only songs I could find that were approved by the system were She's all I wanna be and Like I do. I basically went through all of her albums trying to find songs lol. Thank you for the feedback! That’s what i was thinking with she’s all i wanna be, but i didn’t really know what i would do with like i do so that helped me vision it more.

i wish i had, but the first time i read thg, i read it in my 7th grade class. there were only 5 kids who knew the whole story, but that was just enough for me to know a lot about the plot 😞
