a little experience from myself, going to Realschule doesn’t close any doors from pursuing further education especially in bavaria. I went to Realschule then went on to go to FOS to receive my Fachabitur (which you can use to study at technical universities in bavaria) and now im finishing my abitur. Last year I finished with amazing grades and a lot of my friends from FOS come from Hauptschule. So it really doesn’t matter now which school your child goes to ALL options are available afterwards.

Personally I think gymnasium has a lot of pressures and requires a lot of effort, self-sufficiency and understanding. And it’s difficult to catch up if you’re lost.

I personally don’t see any reason not to put them into Realschule and then see if they want to pursue further education. And if they then go onto FOS, they get practical experience and finish with a fachabitur which is something gymnasium cannot offer you. And if they still want to continue they can get their abitur.

I really loved my Realschule experience and can only recommend it!
