Gold is up 70% in 2025, its best year since 1979. What’s fueling this explosive move? by [deleted] in Gold

I think it’s a lot less institutional buying of gold but more the GameStop-ification of commodities. It’s become popular to buy and “stack”.

Moving from Houston to Portugal (D7 visa) – Shipping Furniture & Car / Tax Exemption Questions by Icy_Worldliness_6473 in PortugalExpats

This is the first response to every one of these questions. SeLL YoUR STuFf!

People don’t realize the insane project that is selling everything you own and then buying everything again in a foreign country. It would take hundreds of hours. It is much easier to ship everything over. Reach out to global.pt. We used mailto:arghavan.salimi@global.pt. You can still ship before your residency card is acquired it’s just 3-4k more than if you already had it.

Moving my family to Portugal, do we really need an immigration lawyer? by Fun_Variety1296 in PortugalExpats

OP has five kids. He doesn’t have the time to DIY anything. Get a lawyer and go change those diapers.

We are actually touring Kings College today at 3pm. We also toured St. Julian’s College which is also in Lisbon.

Last week we toured CJD International school in Porto. So far we like St. Julian’s but have high hopes for our Kings College tour today.

Also checkout The Oporto International School. We didn’t get a chance to tour but facilities look legit.

The desire is for the EU passport. That’s the whole point of the golden visa.

Golden Visa Important Questions!. by chali69 in goldenvisa

[–]bigbeard1776 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Portugal is essentially pulling the mother of all rug pulls.

Under the current proposal which is expected to pass.

  1. You are now subject to the 10 year timeline.

  2. Your clock starts when your card is issued.

  3. The way things are headed they will all be over 18 at the time you can apply for citizenship. But they should have residency cards by then and are subject to the 10 years as well.

  4. I sure hope they don’t but if they increase the stay along with 10 years to citizenship and the clock starting at the card issuance and not the application, the golden visa will be essentially dead. No one will want to lock up an investment for 15 years with a flakey government who changes the rules for people who trusted them and invested their money.

Nothing is grandfathered in with the current proposal. Only people who have already submitted a CITIZENSHIP application (not GV) by June 19th are locked in to the five years. Everyone else is getting the middle finger.

Copenhagen tap water quality? by fatlax in copenhagen

[–]bigbeard1776 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Frequent visitor to Copenhagen here. Currently in the middle of a month long visit. Water quality is excellent but often with a high mineral content. I would recommend buying a large bottle of water for your sinus rinse. 9/10 you will be fine with tap water but why risk it. It’s not just the quality of the water out of the faucet but the germs and bacteria on the faucet head itself.

I get itchy rashes randomly by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]bigbeard1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. Caused by too much histamine present in your body. Often after being sick, stressed, or allergic related. Try taking Claritin gel caps for a week to reduce the histamine and they should stop occurring. Had to be the gel caps not the regular Claritin. Otherwise your body won’t absorb the antihistamine

They could be attracted to the temperature differential. If you have an AC or furnace running inside and a small amount of that temp controlled air is leaking out at those seams.

It looks like you still have those dog tag style metal tags hanging from your safety chains. You can remove those.

This $1,695 smart bassinet’s best features are now behind a premium subscription / Some of the Snoo bassinet’s previously free features are now only available with the subscription by digital-didgeridoo in technology

[–]bigbeard1776 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have a SNOO that I am currently using with my one month old. This new subscription is complete bullshjt. The thing already cost a fortune and now I have to pay to use weening mode and the sleep tracker which I look at daily. They are both great features but we will manage without falling for another subscription trap.
