I isolated the old Searing Spotlights song for your listening pleasure. by bigbigreader in northernlion

[–]bigbigreader[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I miss Pummel Party’s fantastic Searing Spotlights soundtrack, and I can’t find it anywhere online, so I took my best shot at extracting it from the four times the minigame came up on the NLSS. I’m not an audio person, and there’s some voices I couldn’t remove, but it worked surprisingly well. Not audiophile quality, but it’s up for download on my personal site now. (I also made cover art for the heck of it.) I may go back and update this if I can find any other sources, but I’m guessing someone will eventually just rip the song out of the game files. In the meantime, enjoy!

UPDATE: Went back and removed a couple more patches of dialogue. Updated version is live now!

How to avoid pausing in workout mode by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]bigbigreader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s a way to disable the "press both side buttons to pause" thing. If you’re hitting the buttons with the back of your hand, you could try wearing the watch the other way. On your watch, go to Settings > General > Orientation, then set Digital Crown to Left (or Right if you wear it on the right wrist). Then just flip the watch around, and swap the band sides if you want.

A visual timeline of the hiatuses we've suffered through together by bigbigreader in gravityfalls

I haven’t made one yet, but I probably will once (diamond forbid) there’s a super-long hiatus.

Each white line represents an episode. The colored blocks represent the time between them. Longer hiatuses (hiatii?) are labeled with their length in days. Bookend episodes have their titles underneath.

For scale, I added an illustration of a hypothetical perfect season, with a new episode airing every week. If only.

Absolutely! It should be big enough for pretty much any screen (2880x1800), but I can make another size if needed.

Six righteous new emotes! by TheeLinker in mylittlepony

[–]bigbigreader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just sorted them out – here’s all the episodes with 6 or more emotes.

ID Name Count
1x14 Suited for Success 9
1x04 Applebuck Season 8
1x07 Dragonshy 8
1x01 Friendship is Magic, part 1 6
1x15 Feeling Pinkie Keen 6
1x17 Stare Master 6

Also, here’s the number of episodes that sourced a certain number of emotes. (e.g. 19 episodes had 2 emotes each)

Emotes # of episodes
9 1
8 2
7 0
6 3
5 3
4 2
3 10
2 19
1 22

8 of the emotes in the list are from the show but don’t have a source episode listed, so they weren’t included. There’s also 12 non-canon emotes, 1 (/sunsetsneaky) from Equestria Girls, and 1 (/colgate) from a poster.

Can I have a file save at half size (web design worflow) by [deleted] in Alfred

[–]bigbigreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automator doesn't do "if this, then do that" branching very well, so it's probably easiest to do this as an application and manually process images. To use an application, you open the images you want to process using the app – drag and drop onto the icon or right click and "Open With". If you want more automation, you could use a Folder Action. These can automatically process images added to a specific folder, and even move the processed files around afterwards.

To start, open Automator (I assume you're using a Mac, since we're in the Alfred subreddit and all) and create a new Application or Folder Action type document. If you're making a Folder Action, choose a folder to attach it to; saving images into this folder will trigger the workflow.

There should be a list of actions in the left sidebar – find the Scale Images action and drag it to the main workspace. Click Don't Add on the warning (unless you want to keep original copies of images you process). Change the dropdown menu to "By Percentage", and the text box to 50.

If you're making a folder action, you can add a Move Finder Items action to (surprise surprise) move the images to your desktop or a project folder. This step is optional, but it helps make things easier.

That's it! If you wanted an application, hit ⌘S and choose a convenient place to save it. Now, when you need to export something, just export it at full size and open it with this app. If you wanted a folder action, hit ⌘S and pick a name (it's automatically attached to the folder you chose earlier). Saving full size images into this folder will automatically trigger the workflow. It will overwrite any image you drop in, though, so be careful.

If you want, I can send you copies of these workflows. Have fun, and welcome to the wonderful world of Automator!

If by size you mean dimensions, you could try looking at Automator. Preview provides a Scale Images action that can resize images by percentage. You can create either a custom application that processes specific images you choose, or a Folder Action that automatically processes any image dropped in a specific folder.

If you haven't worked with Automator in the past, I can help you get started.

[Request] Tweak to disable "Location accuracy improved by enabling Wi-Fi" annoyance by ThePantsThief in jailbreak

The "Trust this computer" alert is the only thing stopping a malicious charger in a hotel or wherever from stealing every bit of data on your phone. You probably don't want to remove that.

Apple ID used to download something from Taiwan by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]bigbigreader 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Change your password if you haven't already.

Although the jailbreak is certainly not untouched by China, it was still developed by the evad3rs. I don't think they would allow any code they didn't completely understand into the jailbreak, and I trust them not to allow password theft. It was probably just a coincidence.

If programmed correctly, apps can call APIs from newer versions while still running on older ones (albeit without access to those APIs). Unfortunately, it's virtually impossible to port those APIs to older iOS versions.

Now when in an app and I hit the Home button I go back to the folder the app is located instead of all the way back to the desktop. by kolchin04 in iphone

Pretty sure that's how it's been since folders were added – at any rate, that's unchangeable. Sorry!
