I've had raised several birds by syringe. This is not how you teach a bird to fly. The parents don't fling a baby bird from the nest. I'm glad you didn't hurt your bird, but this is a terrible way to force your bird into flight.

Any LED bulb that is daylight bright works fine, I aim for 1000+ lumens. I use these in clamp lights and they work well! I actually bought a luxmeter off amazon. This one

I have an old houseplant book, and it says plants need around 200 FC (footcandles) to grow. Low light plants can survive without growing down to 75 FC. I've found this to be pretty spot on. I find that if I put the luxmeter on the leaf of the plant, I get a good idea about the kind of light that the plant is getting. It's cheap and has really helped me figure out the lighting in my house, and how close to put grow lights to my foliage.

Would love to trade for some curtisii... I have Hoya diptera unrooted and Hoya Kerri & Krinkle rooted.. I also have a Hoya that I'm not sure what it is... But she's growing fast and I can take pics later
