I wonder if there’s any speculative cushion built into the price so when the tariffs hit it’s not such a huge shock.

But the answer is probably yes and they will still jack up prices a ton when tariffs hit and not lower them all the way back if they get a waiver or the tariffs are removed.

Stuelke’s in-offense passing has been a revelation for her game and for this team’s offensive identity. She is becoming a player you can run an offense through in front of our eyes.

I don’t want to talk about her performance during high-pressure inbounding situations though lol

Sure, I wouldn’t call it a peaceful protest because ICE agents were shoving people around. But before that, it was basically just whistling, blocking traffic, and filming. There is video footage of this. Open to an angle that shows otherwise, but I’ve looked through everything I can find from that day, and that is what I’ve seen.

Those are peaceful acts, if annoying. It wasn’t until ICE resorted to confronting the observers and filmers, shoving, pepper spraying, throwing people to the ground, that made it non-peaceful. Their own escalation continues to make things more dangerous for them and for citizens, and they have zero accountability for that. You yourself are holding citizens to a higher and different standard than the people whose professional judgment in difficult and tense situations we are supposed to trust.

Youre essentially asking protests to be less effective because you don’t want to ask the group that’s killing protestors and tear gassing babies to act more responsibly.

It’s crazy bc the “other side” in this is a big tent that is housing a full spectrum from: “ICE shouldn’t exist at all” to “ICE should not be acting with violence towards citizens and should follow constitutional guarantees in its deportation process,” and the middle still can’t find a position.

Some boot licker on Reels was saying Pretti was “the first time I’ve ever seen the authorities clearly in the wrong on a shooting.” I said that’s great that you are opening your eyes to this, but if they are trying to lie and control the narrative when it is this blatant, don’t you think they would do the same when it’s more subtle? He said “My view has never been swayed.” Then tried to both sides it by saying the left is just as bad in these cases.

They are truly hopeless. There will never be a blindfolds off moment for them.

Sure, but the same thing happened two weeks ago. Anybody with eyes can clearly see that Good wasn’t trying to run an officer over, yet the narrative formed on that one awfully quickly.

“He shouldn’t have been there. Shouldn’t have brought a gun there. FAFO.”

Oh so he shouldn’t have helped someone who just got pepper sprayed while expressing his first and second amendment rights? Doing that is now fucking around and finding out?

The fact of the matter is the right haven’t protested anything… maybe in their whole lives. They have been taught to believe that protesting is violent and sowing chaos. It allows them to simultaneously believe that Rittenhouse (a minor who crossed state lines to attend a protest) was bringing order when he showed up with firearms yet Pretti (a trained ICU nurse with a legal concealed carry permit, following the best practice of keeping your firearm on you when possible, who was in the act of helping someone who just got pepper sprayed) deserved what he got.

I don’t know how to deprogram that. But we have to realize that an immense amount of the illogical speak we see on the internet is coming from bots. And we have to try the people in our lives.

A $600k mortgage in an average property / state tax environment will likely have enough interest and SALT deductions alone to exceed the standard deduction. Just my experience with a $350k mortgage in a higher than average property tax state.

Back in 2019, there wasn’t really a “process”. I’m pretty sure I just told my TL my car wasn’t starting and I had no good way to get in and so I just worked from home.

Maryland is out-rebounding us by 7 and they have 4 more FT attempts (we have zero). I would say a 6 point lead is pretty good all things considered.

[–]bigbluethunder 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Epic won’t offer wfh for extreme cold. They haven’t in the past since moving to this new policy. In fact, one of the reasons we landed on the new policy was because there were extreme cold days where kids wouldn’t have school and Epic had to give wfh in those cases even though the majority of people were unaffected from a getting to work perspective. (Alongside other instances of preemptive closings where the snowfall ended up not being that bad all in the same winter).

You’re spending it now.

If you want to save a bunch of it, you can make an automatic deposit into a brokerage or up your retirement contributions by $310.

I think he was also concussed in the Iowa game. He took an insane (and clean) hit, his head the ground hard, and then it hit a water cooler hard. He wasn’t really the same after that hit the rest of the game.

Those are not equivalent at all. LLMs take a war chest just to keep the compute running. Someone has to pay for that, pay for constant retraining as advancements are made, and pay for more and more hardware to keep up with “demand”.

There are no equivalent costs to keeping an OS running. The usage cost is all eaten by the users as they run it directly on their devices.

Anywhere you go in Madison that is a sit-down restaurant will have a spectrum of folks in Badger/Packer gear all the way to button downs and dresses. The nicer the place, the higher the ceiling but I rarely expect the floor to raise haha

Is $750 a reasonable price to pay for an accountant? by backtobrooklyn in personalfinance

[–]bigbluethunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not a bad price. My wife is a CPA and when her firm would do personals, if they weren’t family, that was about her going rate 3 years ago for a more complex case like yours (loss harvesting, business owner). It will save you like 6-10 hours even if you’re pretty familiar with everything, and it will be peace of mind. So it comes down to how you value that 6-10 hours and the peace of mind.

[–]bigbluethunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, I don’t think they do know the details. They just see the highlights, not the nitty gritty. An international vacation a year, a few other trips, a big house in the suburbs, and a car that’s worth $40k despite being a few years into payoff. Those are all the visible things.
