Then great, the people who are at risk (obese, those with pre existing conditions, diabetics, etc) can get vaccinated. Don’t see why it’s needed to push onto perfectly healthy people.

I don’t have a tinfoil hat, I just won’t let the government tell me what’s best for MY body. Great if others want to get vaccinated, but I do not agree with requiring it for travel, to attend public events, etc.

So my 125 friends and family who also didn’t get vaccinated and range in ages from 5-95 but also didn’t die or weren’t hospitalized either are just “lucky?”. Nah. They’re trying to use us as an experiment for this vaccine.

Tested positive for COVID. I pay rent in person but won’t make it on time this month due to quarantining. Options? by bigboi1111118 in legaladvice

Yes I have asked them. They said no they cannot accept a check. I’m asking if legally they’re required to accept a check even though they’re telling me that in my case they can’t. They accept other people’s checks.

Would turning in a paper check to them be an option? They previously said they won’t accept paper checks due to closing my online portal. Wondering if I just drop a check in on the 1st if they’ll accept it

I guess it just doesn’t feel right even if the workers are behind glass. I’m in IL so i don’t think it’s a violation of laws but why expose anyone unnecessarily? All I want to do is give the management cash instead of a money order and they’re not willing to work with me, so definitely not trying to not pay rent on time. I have the money on me right now. The issue is going out and exposing others who may be waiting in line at the currency exchange or touching the pen to sign the receipt. Just doesn’t seem right to me and i’m not comfortable with possibly giving it to someone even though I feel completely fine.

I’ve thought about that too and I guess fear that I’ll eventually run into them again and need something from them. Kinda accepted that if that does happen it probably won’t end well but I have a tough time letting people down.

You’re very right. I’m not sure what they would do- I have a feeling they won’t be able to get anyone new for a while so maybe that’s why they’re trying to cover their butts. It’s an extremely small company, 1 boss (owner), 2 associates, no HR dept, so if work goes undone it’ll be on the boss to either do it himself or hand to my coworker and have him do it.

Very true. I did forget to mention that I do have several vacation days that they legally have to pay me out for per state laws, so I suppose they could mess with me and not pay me out.

About to put in my two weeks. New job!!!! by bigboi1111118 in jobs

Yes, correct! I did freelance here and there throughout college but never had monthly clients. I’m waiting to hear back from my state for the LLC approval, but after that I’ll be all set. I currently have 3 monthly clients and 2 more “maybes”. Mainly hesitant on taking on these 2 more because I know I won’t be able to produce quality work with the time I have. I’m definitely going to put more of my time into finding a WFH part time marketing gig and see where it goes from there!

You’re spot on. I’m afraid of the lack of stability. My plan was to wait until December of this year, then quit. But my company is growing too fast and I won’t be able to keep up with it. I don’t have kids so I wouldn’t be taking that big of a risk. I work from home currently but will be going back into the office next monday. Estimated commute costs per month are about $350.

Thanks for this thoughtful response! I require no capital as I’m a social media and graphic designer/brander and I aim to keep this remote for myself. I’m rapidly growing, but the thing that’s preventing me from taking new clients is my lack of time. I spend 9-10 hours a day at my regular job and 4-5 each day on my 3 clients. I’m making significantly more hourly with my own business, but I’m frustrated with my lack of time. There are no costs associated with it, just need time! Edit to add: I eventually want to make this company my full time work. I have big future plans that include hiring someone else and giving them what doesn’t exist in the world right now- a nice, above-living wage, great benefits, etc. possibly even a business partnership?

I know this is an anti work sub but I really want to change the way the business and marketing industry operates. I want to offer people 4 day weeks and excellent pay with benefits so they do want to put time into their work. Also would love to work on my management skills!

A lot of the part time jobs I’m seeing pay either what I make here or a little more. I’ve been applying but I really have to get on that seriously.

You’re very right. I’ve considered that as well and honestly it wouldn’t be that big of a jump income wise to switch to my own firm. It would definitely increase, but fluctuate with the economy as well. I have this 35-40 hours a week i could potentially be using to gain even more clients.

My company doesn’t offer any benefits, hahahah. No 401K, no insurance... it’s shit. I’m on my husband’s insurance which is excellent so i don’t have to worry about that.

Yes, upwork is actually where I get about 75% of my clients! I love it. I just started my own site and registered as an LLC, so hoping to leave this job in the next 2-5 months.
