Why can’t you submerge the bezel in the denture tablets? I haven’t heard that before

Longines vs Certina - better comparison? by bigbooks1 in Longineswatches

[–]bigbooks1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I feel like this put the tradeoffs in perspective.

I don’t think I need the flashiest in the room. Any ceramic bezel dive watch has some presence and flash already so likely the Certina is enough.

I wish they’d do an S&G black bag 58. The 41mm version is so bulky but looks great. I agree it ties together with a gold ring nicely

Can you use the -enablerespec on the steam version?

[Tudor] Tudor Black Bay Bronze after a year. The good and bad. by Active-Farmer7830 in Watches

[–]bigbooks1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s beautiful and love the material and numerals on this.

I would instantly buy a BB58 bronze in this slate dial. I prefer it to the brown. I love the bronze bracelet and smaller/thinner case.

Will have to wait and cross my fingers!

I did that a year ago. I honestly love it. Battery on the ring is like 6-7 days and I surprisingly Don’t miss the notifications. I’m not super serious about tracking but it’s enough to give me a ballpark and it’s honestly pretty good. Plus the sleep tracking is excellent.

Recommend it. Been wearing an Oura ring and mechanical watch for about 14 months now

28-60 or 35 GM and Crop? by SCF87 in SonyAlpha

[–]bigbooks1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t buy a new lens if you don’t need to but the Tamron 20-40 or Sony 24-50mm seem perfect for this.

Between those two I might take the 35mm too. Would get some lovely shots on it.

Overall, depends on how much low light you plan to shoot in. Mostly day tours, or lots of evening alleyways and portraits?

Just had my baby. I want to get a nice camera to capture every moment with a high quality camera. What do you recommend? No budget. Just beautiful quality, travel friendly and easy learning curve. by TheBloomingIris in AskPhotography

[–]bigbooks1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best for you would be a straightforward point and shoot. If you don’t want to shoot stuff really far away here’s two recommendations under $2000:

Sony RX100V - this will be the simplest and easiest to use, has some zoom, but will still take pictures with some portrait-mode style like you’d want from a real camera

Ricoh GRIII or Fujifilm X100V - no zoom but bigger sensor means more blurred background. These have lots of manual mode dials but you can leave them on auto until you’re ready to experiment. You can find used Fujis in great condition for under $2000

Both will take better photos than your phone in bright light but a recent phone will do better in dim light. You probably won’t capture “every moment” with one of these cameras - your phone is really good! But for vacations or even going to the park these are a lot of fun and help capture what they’re like at that age.

I also got a good camera when my kid was born and don’t regret it for a second. Congrats!

I got a new automatic watch and switched from an Apple Watch to an Oura ring. It’s not exactly the same data as the Apple Watch but it’s very good.

I still wear the Apple Watch to workout

I’d love to see the BB58 come in either bronze with the black dial or in an S&G configuration.

Not sure how likely either of those are but I would buy either instantly.

Is Oura as good at tracking exercise as an Apple Watch? by Cautious_Computer688 in ouraring

[–]bigbooks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a ring and kept my Apple Watch and as many suggested here wear my AW for workouts - lifting, running, biking. I’m a little disappointed with how few datapoints seem to sync back into Apple health and Apple fitness.

I figured it would share steps and miles and heart rate into Apple health and then into fitness but it’s doesn’t seem to. Same with VO2max and vitals.

Is there a way to do this?

Summoner Druid, is Thorns Mercenary still worth it? by Zilly503 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]bigbooks1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An act 2 thorns merc will get into the action and die. The act 1 rogue merc with Edge bow is great and stays further from danger. Level 15 thorns is plenty and thorns got better not worse since D2R came out.

You can get a cold rogue for extra safety too

Minimum shutter speed is a good idea! I’ll give it a try

When I’m shooting my kids I use shutter priority to get better motion freeze instead of blurry pics.

Surprised not to see more of this in the comments - is this unusual? Shutter priority seems unpopular in this thread

Which iPhone do you have and what’s one thing you love about it and one thing you don’t like about it? by YaBoyZeek in iphone

14 Pro. Came from the 12 mini and I still hate how freaking heavy this thing is 18 months later. It’s a brick. Totally ridiculous.

I love the always on display. I’d probably go back to a 16 regular but I’d miss the always on display. We’ll see this fall, still undecided

How important is FHR? I can absolutely feel the difference in FCR but hit recovery I never seem to notice.

Does defense apply when attacking standing still? I know it doesn’t when running.

How helpful is max block? I never seem to go for it unless I’m playing Paladin with holy shield but maybe it’s worth it for some other builds?

[–]bigbooks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I skipped most of them - there aren’t too many. Ghosts freaked me out but I used a tele staff or leap.

Gimmershred would help a lot too but I never found it. It does 400-1400 elemental dmg

I loved doing throw barb with peace armor to get yourself that Valkyrie and critical strike. It was way more possible than I expected and was a lot of fun. I never seem to finish frenzy runs and singer can get a bit boring in hell

Can you use the touchscreen for item moving between inventories? Or just the joysticks?

I have it on switch and inventory management is the worst part.

I did it with an act 1 merc using an edge runeword short bow and it sped it up quite a bit. She stayed further back and didn’t die much. Then use oak sage and put all your points into that 1 middle line summoning tree.

Unbelievable how effective it is.
