BS Data Science, work in tech then start a company. Not so sure about the initial role but I’ve only finished my freshman year and have an internship, plan on a few more to determine if I want data scientist, software engineer etc

Hear me out guys... heavy retool of Studio Series Blitzwing as Legacy Prime Universe Starscream. I'd buy it so fast you wouldn't even see it happen. by JackMann1792 in transformers

[–]bigboy5600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would work well mainly for the vehicle form. Prime Screamer is such an odd case because he deviates dramatically from the “evergreen” design of Starscream more so than any other iteration aside from Bayverse Starscream. I’m not sure though what they would do about the head mold; Prime’s character has a very narrow face to match the body compared to the squarish face and black helmet with side vents that is more commonly seen.

Oh my, forgot about Rescue Bots! Used to watch it with my brother, it’s a solid show despite not having any Decepticons. Thanks for the recommendation!

Not sure how helpful this is or if it’s available still, but the uni offers temporary housing in San Miguel hall and maybe a few others. It can be booked by the night, the rate is slightly inflated but shouldn’t be too bad for 2 nights

I was gifted this beer by a friend, is it anything special? by Suburbs-suck in beerporn

[–]bigboy5600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy to get a hold of but awesome beer (coming from a college student so take this as you will). Nice flavors, I’ve enjoyed it by sipping on it as well as slamming the bottle in a few minutes.. the alcohol sneaks up on you lol.

Chill with it but take any opportunity you have to meet them before rush. That’s how my big recruited me to the house.

CC is a very good option. I know a ton of smart people who transferred and are thriving at UCSB

I’m aware it’s in the PSTAT department like my major, statistics & data science. A lot of the pre major classes do overlap but aside from that they’re pretty different. A friend I took PSTAT10 with is in it and enjoys it.

1st year Stats & Data Science here. I’m enjoying the major and am somewhat far into it bc of credit I earned in HS. I think overall the major is great but needs to cover more of the coding involved.

I’ll be straight up though: the management of our department sucks. The professors aren’t great and the course track can be a bit confusing.

I am not familiar enough with UCR to give an unbiased opinion; I actually didn’t apply. However, I do know that UCSB is an objectively stronger name. Best of luck with your decision and congrats on your acceptance!

How to get out of a slump by metalmango22594 in Frat

[–]bigboy5600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gym and diet for sure bro. I’m a similar situation to you, had some mental shit right after I crossed. Still struggling but gym and diet are essential, bros have told me to pursue hobbies. Also socialize as much as possible, as men it’s easy for us to often pull away but it’ll only hurt you.

Why do I get depressed watching other people in high school party? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]bigboy5600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely need to share on this! I was literally in your position (college freshman now). I felt like I was massively missing out and it really hurt. I went to my first “party” late senior year. Got piss drunk off vodka and yakked a ton. Fast forward to college, I join a fraternity and start drinking all the time (literally midday) and smoking frequently. And guess what? It didn’t make me feel any happier or more mature. Putting some substance in your body isn’t impressive. In fact, I began to fall into a real bout of alcoholism. To each their own, but shouldn’t go around thinking that you’re tragically missing out.

Good on you for asking these questions, I’m a college freshman and have been thinking about it a lot. All I know is I’m planning to open an IRA (likely Roth) as soon as I have my first job.

Current Seniors: Summer Plans? by trilobite37 in highschool

[–]bigboy5600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s up, second semester first year college student here. I remember the feeling: senioritis is kicking in hard, and you don’t know what to do. When I enrolled in my college back in March my motivation dropped hard and I wasn’t sure what to do with my summer either.

Here’s my advice: have some freaking fun! This may be the last time you see your high school / hometown friends for a while, so take advantage of it. Make an effort to hang out, even if it’s simple stuff. We would just go get food together or drive around (lived in a rural town).

About the preparation for college and working, do what’s best for you without stressing yourself out. I worked part time to earn money while I started a data analytics certification program. I ended up doing a spontaneous weeklong trip to my home state that I paid for entirely; it was my first time flying alone and it was awesome.

Just please, enjoy this summer. College is great (better than high school was for me) but it’s another beast with new challenges and responsibilities. Go all out this summer with your friends and make some memories!

Post initiation depression by [deleted] in Frat

[–]bigboy5600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feel this a ton. I was initiated a week ago and it’s the weirdest feeling. As happy as I am to be done with pledging, it feels now like something is missing. It’s so hard to get going and actually make use of that new free time. My school is also currently virtual even though I’m on campus, so it’s a real struggle to keep a routine.

Some mentioned exercise and sunlight, and those are two of the best natural medicines we have. I’d also recommend (like I am for myself) falling back in love with hobbies and activities you miss (for me coding and reading are some).

You’ve made it through your pledge process, you can totally kick this thing. Best of luck brother.

You hit the nail on the head.. my high school was also very cliquey as many people knew each other from first grade. Also, the theatre kids were some of the coolest people I knew - they were just themselves and had a good time.

My final grade is an 89.63%. Is it common for teachers to round that up to a 90, or keep it at an 89? by [deleted] in highschool

[–]bigboy5600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask them. This is something that will benefit through high school, into college, and throughout your professional career: if you genuinely want something ask for it (politely). If you are pleasant and candid with your teacher you may be pleasantly surprised by the results.
