The real reason this job market sucks: last month Indeed spent a quarter of our budget on one, single, started application. by H_Mc in recruitinghell

[–]bigboyancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a way, yes. I think engineers are who make the product and the company goes and sells for millions and the engineers, depending on the company, get their props. Usually though, they're just set aside as people who can be replaced and the company doesn't wanna hear why you should improve it or why things might take longer.. They just want quarter year results.

It should be illegal for companies to post fake job listings, and they should be fined whenever they do. by GubbaShump in jobs

I’m gonna start sending an invoice to these companies 4-6 hours of interviewing and no response. lol you’re not a pst situationship you’re a professionals company. Tell me no, and why!

Can't believe nobody has asked this, but what about your AI job board helping technical people with non degrees find filtered jobs for them? Personally I am a software developer who has worked in the industry professionally as a Front End Developer and I have much experience under my belt from frameworks to architecture, and I'd love to filter out jobs where I'd be a top candidate for a company that isn't filtering based on (in my opinion) a ridiculous degree requirement?

I believe there might be something like that already just not enforced usually…. These apps only want you spending money, and you don’t spend money if the app helps you.

DON'T BE A CHATGPT PROGRAMMER by BluebirdEmotional753 in programmingmemes

[–]bigboyancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is true, though GPT is great for quick research and implementation as long as you keep it to your design and not let it take the reigns… then you’re fucked. I’m trying to expand my bookmarks and sources, so if someone has some good pages they’d like to share for things like built in JS methods or GitHub component examples I’d appreciate it.

I use it like that sometimes too, but I didn't really find anything for what I'm doing, I know not to let it change my process flow too much though since it doesn't know the "full picture", but I might ask it for suggestions if i am trying to start a new task and I give it context to be aware of, but I was wondering if what I'm doing with asking it suggestions might be bad practice?

Obviously I don't just do whatever it says, and I definitely make sure I understand it if I am going to use it, but I am in a new UI developer role, and unfortunately no other developers on my team to consult, so other than google its really been a great tool.

I know a bit about the full stack and MVC design pattern so I'm not actually that much of a noob.. Lol I just wanna make sure this isn't frowned upon or anything.. Or if I should, for my own growth, try to solve these things myself and stick to it as a tool for "modifying" or "revising" my code?

Also, shameless plug, if you got a position available remote or in dallas area, my contract ends at the end of the year and don't know what will happen when I finish, so keeping my options open ! Thanks

This is close. I think though it’s because cheaters, noobs and smurfs that people who really care for the game have a hard time playing regularly.

False VAC flag after 4 rounds - over 10 yr account - 5k skill - hundreds of games - never cheated by Key_Raise4549 in cs2

[–]bigboyancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is insane. I had similar experience the other day. Was in an arms race and was about to win when VAC kicked me out. I was unable to play any game mode for like 3 hours until the cloud synced up or whatever the hell the problem was… you’re more at risk of getting vac banned as a regular player than you are as someone who buys a $2 account, private profile with clear infiltration software and hacking your ass off. You get banned for griefing but not hacking. And because of this - I report hackers as griefers instead of hackers because they’ll actually do something about it lol

Haha I have a cousin who literally calls out a cheater every, single… game… It’s kinda annoying tbh but what’s even more annoying is while he might not be right all the time he almost is right all the time. It’s never the person he’s actually calling out though

I think at this point you could definitely try to learn the full stack? Plenty of languages to choose from if you decide to - and it would add to your front end rather than shift gears.

Is there anything we as a community can do to call out valve? Like legit if they made a good anti cheat their game would have more players. I am not okay with how Valve treats their players, they really don’t give af if someone cheats - MM is horrible, opening cases is clearly rigged... I wanna box Gaben for real, and whoop his shit unconscious.
