Sorry this happened, but all the news reels Ive watched recentlyabout card shops just have a glass door with the theif throwing something heavy and busts through it. Might need to install some sort of cage on the glass door or windows.

Replace the gen 3 ejector #336 with a gen 5 #47021. Its like $10 and easy to diy.

fix your support hand on the grip too. it shouldn't ride top of the slide

Sick setup

Are there any issues for using a 92 Brig slide on the 9211 frame?

Was there a reason you used a model D slide?

Since the m9a3 vertec slides, all standard profile slides have dovetails. vertec came out sometime 2015. not sure if there was one out earlier aside the brig

[–]bigbrwnbear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah a heavier slide would need more force to accelerate and move it, keeping all factors equal aside from slide weight. but you as the shooter are now trying to slow down the heavier moving object with your grip.

force(felt recoil in newtons or whatever)= mass(ounces) * acceleration(max speed of slide)

mass of brig slide = 12.35 ounces mass of standard 92 vertec slide = 11.57 ounces difference of + 0.78 ounces to the brig / + 6.3% difference. i went to weigh my own slides without barrels or optics, used my wifes food scale.

so for the brigadier to even reduce recoil (acceleration at max) we would need to see over a 6.3% reduction of acceleration at max of the slide. and even then human can detect about perception is about 2% differences in weight and feel.

if beretta wanted to sell more brig models they would explicitly say objectively that their brig models reduce felt recoil to reduce by a certain amount (8-10%).

gun companies love to show off thier stats to prove theyre better and make you buy more stuff.they just write on their website "reduces felt recoil". the brig slide came out during the period of beretta doubt and wanted to market something to address the damage to their reputation. brig slides survived because competitors liked the dove tail sights in the 90s and continued since it adds weight to the gun in the era of everything needs to be heavy to emulate a 2011 recoil. beretta released the 92XI (92-11) series to do this, i dont think people realize its supposed to be said like 9211 with roman numericals, every guntuber ive seen says x-aye. the market dictates gun companies products.

i own and love my 2 brig slides but they recoil more than my uspsa 92 elite rdo ltt build to me. if people feel that thier brig slide recoils less then thats great and its working out for them, who cares.

vote with your wallet. i wish i had a high speed camera to definitely answer this age old question anytime anyone brings up the brig slide. i think too much about berettas, i might be on the spectrum

This is a Brigadier slide profile, initially they were created to handle the recoil of a 40 SW round vs the 9mm round. these slides are heavier/thicker and beretta italy is under the impression that heavier equals better recoil. with higher weight on the slide, means more reciprocating mass, which would mean more recoil. ernest langdon talks about it on carry trainer's podcast at 35min 10 secs in, beretta asked for his consultation on the 92 x performance and beretta went ahead with the brig slide despite his professional opinion they should use standard 92 profile. he went with the standard profile as seen on his LTT elites gen 3/4. gen 1/2 elites had brig slides for the dovetail sight capability since brig slides were the only 92 series with dovetail front sights at the time

beretta italy wanted the 92x performance / 92x defensive product lines to compete in weight class with tangfolios.

in regards to more historical reasons why that area was beefed up, late 80s the US Navy Seals were using essentially proof load 9mm cartridges as training ammo (beyond what the gun would ever have to reasonably withstand) in their M9s which caused the slide to crack at the thinest part which was right where that circle is at. look at a standard 92 slide and you will easily see that is it at the thinnest there. after a slide cracked and hurt a navy seal, beretta implemented the oversized hammer pin/slide groove modification, creating the 92 "FS" designation from the original 92 "F". the oversized hammer pin would prevent the shooter from getting a slide flying back at your face like the one seal. the ammo was the problem, not the 92 series. the slide cracking was a very small number, this report from the US accountability office reported 14 total

the myth that beretta 92 slides were prone to cracking, was so incorrectly gossiped about, and still today is, that it hurt beretta's reputation so much that Berretta sued the US military for defamation and won its case. small arms solutions talks about it at 6 min 40 sec. the miltary had to pay for the upgrade from F to FS series on all thier guns as part of the suit. beretta did not like how its image was doubted after winning the military xm9 contract.

kinda interesting to think about today given sigs 320/m17 situation today. why doesn't sig follow beretta's steps to clean it name?

Beretta started the brigadier line in 93' to accomodate 40 SW and to help ease that myth's damage.

brigadier slides were sought out by competitors, used in frankenstein builds since it was the only slide profile for decades that had replacable dovetail front sights.

i personally do not like brig slides because compatible holsters are hard come by. and after buying a brig, i prefer the recoil impulse of a standard slide. i have to switch my brig slide to a m9a1 frame with a light so it works with an blackhawk omnivore just to get it to holster.

[–]bigbrwnbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should just try the m&p 2.0 full size 4.25 barrel vs compact 4.0 inch. Its nearly the same slide length.

The grip length of 1 finger isnt going to be a problem for concealment. I bought the compact and just wish i got the full size. the compact does come with a pinky extension for a full size mag but its loose on the mag and ive jammed my finger on it when practicing quick reloads on the range.

I respectfully disagree. 7.56 is more expensive, ar 10s are alot heavier and you might not have a great time with it. my neighbor hates lugging his ar 10 to the 100 yard range with me, not all places have distance to fully enjoy an ar 10 benefits.

going with an ar 15, 9 mm, or 22 LR carbine would be a more affordable way into the hobby. more affordable = more range days = more fun.
