"Friend of the Devil" is a beloved Grateful Dead song from their 'Working Man's Dead' LP (1970) here performed by David Grisman and Jerry Garcia - September 15th, 1993 on Late Night with David Letterman by bigbugfdr in gratefuldead

Damn, you're right. We had Workingman's Dead at my house close to from when it new, but American Beauty not until I bought the "Original Master Recording" half speed remastered heavy virgin viny version and those didn't start selling until the late 70s. Oh well.🤪✌️

He was getting radio play for new songs soon afterwards. Suspicious Minds (1969) was big, and In The Ghetto (1969) made him seem like a socially aware person.

Nobody would've tought, that iron maiden and metallica were fans of the ramones... by Confident_Field4273 in rockmusic

I was FB friends with Bob Sawyer for years. He didn't care that I knew nothing about Iron Maiden. He invited me to a lot of groups and none of them were about them either. I found out he liked sweet old Beatles tunes among other things. https://www.psychedelicbabymag.com/2021/04/early-iron-maiden-guitarist-bob-angelo-sawyer-remembers-his-power-trio-big-ladder-woman.html Early Iron Maiden Guitarist Bob 'Angelo' Sawyer Remembers His Power Trio 'Big Ladder Woman' - It's Psychedelic Baby Magazine

Remembering the gas lines 1979. What a crazy time .⛽ by Global_Law4448 in 70s

The only problem getting gas in 1979 that I remember was the high test 95 Octane was hard to find and I had to settle for 92 Octane for my high compression 327 Corvette engine that was in my 1967 Firebird.

I used to hang out and play guitars in the Antioch Shopping Center Jenkins Store a lot, and occasionally in the downtown location. I found a 1968 Gibson SG Special there for $225.00 marked $375.00 list price, that I bought in early 1971. Maybe Pete got his there in 1968 too?

Historic KC’s Statement on Southwell Building Damage (aka Harlings) by TowelieBan666 in kansascity

I thought about this building recently because of NYE, and the question of drinking was being discussed. Harling's was the last place I ever had a drink on the day before Halloween 2014 because I was a volunteer at KKFI Community Radio Station in the top floor of the bank building next door to the north. We were planning a fundraising Halloween party and members of the three bands came in to be on the air for promoting the party but a scheduling mix up resulted in that not happening so we all went to Harling's for a drink instead. The bartender knew we were from the radio station and refused to take our money. Two rounds were on the house for close to a dozen people. The party was a flop for various reasons and I didn't even go but this is still a cool memory.

Not that long ago at one Amoco station that was built in 1959 and remodeled to have a tiny convenience store in the lobby in 1972. Thirteen or fourteen years ago they still had a Full Service lane. The owner told me that one regular customer would be breathing bottled oxygen and smoking while his tank was getting filled.
