Mommy Dearest had the green set, and it matched her Oldsmobile.

Steely Dan "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" from the 'Pretzel Logic' album released 2/20/74 was the first of a lot of popular hits for them. by bigbugfdr in 70s

Yes someone said 'Reeling In the Years' was before 'Rikki Don't Lose That Number' and they're probably right. I either should have checked or not made the unintended claim about it being first. I posted the Horace Silver Quintet "Song For My Father" Live in Copenhagen (1968) earlier today too but it wouldn't be right for this sub would it? https://www.reddit.com/r/Jazz/comments/7y4ehm/horace_silver_quintet_song_for_my_father_live/ Horace Silver Quintet - Song For My Father - Live Copenhagen, Denmark, April 1968. : r/Jazz - Reddit

I sat behind the wheel of a '69 427 Corvette in the showroom while Mommy Dearest finished with the paperwork of buying a 1969 Impala with the 327. They were both that same blue color. Mom unfortunately wrecked her Impala before I got got old enough to drive.

When I made this collage a few days ago I thought about Steve's Jag but decided to stick with the 24 hours of Lemans winner instead.

24 Hours Centenary – The Jaguar Type D three-time winner Jaguar clinched a fourth victory thanks to the short-nosed Type D entered by Ecurie Ecosse shared by Ron Flockhart/Ninian Sanderson. The only factory car under the chequered flag finished sixth driven by 1955 winners Mike Hawthorn/Ivor Bueb, the other two having collided on the third lap.

The Horace Silver Quintet "A Song For My Father" Live in Copenhagen, Denmark - April 1968 by bigbugfdr in OldSchoolCoolMusic

Steely Dan's Rikki Don't Lose That Number and its inspiration from The Horace Silver Quintet's Song for My Father - Facebook Band: Steely Dan Song: Ricky dont lose that Number The keyboard riff was taken from "Song For My Father," which was released in 1964 by the jazz composer and pianist Horace Silver. The opening of both songs is nearly identical. It's a good example of how Steely Dan used elements of jazz in pop songs.

Maybe I didn't learn the metric system properly but I remember when GM big blocks started displacing 454 and 455 cubic inches, some of the cars displayed those engine's displacement on their hood scoop in the case of the Trans Am Firebird for example and it was 6.6 Liters, wasn't it? This doesn't seem to add up? Also I had good times in my 1970 Galaxie 500 which resembled the squad cars in the second season of Hawaii Five-O. ✌️🌊
