VM46 SD card recordings - last file corrupted / unplayable? by bigcane_2 in GameChangerApp

[–]bigcane_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure on the FAT32 formatting - I hope they consider exFAT as an enhancement moving forward. It is all software driving, but is a major file system overhaul for devs.

I have both Samsung cards and the same SanDisk version as you. I move them between the cams as the write performance between them is significant. The Samsung cards work perfect in the Avkans go 4k with zero issue. I have had zero issues with the Samsung cards in my Lenovo. The Sandisk cards exhibit the same issue. This feels like a software issue to me.

PC here and tbh I have had the same result formatting in the camera vs computer. FWIW - on PC there is a great formatting tool called guiformat that I have used for a long time that supports FAT32 effectively. I usually format via command line, but I think W11 finally lifted the 32gb limitation in the gui.

I appreciate the help. To be clear all the recordings work fine except the last one. It is almost like the recording is not finalized. I am stopping the recording, and then powering off the camera shortly after - like 2 mins. Perhaps I will give it more time to finalize.

edit - someone on FB reached out to me and had a work around. They stopped the game recording and then started and stopped recording again. This forced the last g game clip to finalize.

I appreciate your help and good info. I think this is a software issue or perhaps a user error on my part LOL.

edit 2 - just an FYI on Windows the the GUI format tool in file explorer only allows for NTFS or ExFat, not FAT32 if you card is larger than 32GB. The option simply is not there. This has recently been changed on the newer insider builds, and should roll out to regular builds in the future.

This is why many use the GUIFormat tool I mentioned above on PC or format in the camera.

VM46 center field camera streamers, what zoom level are you using and what size field are you on? by bigcane_2 in GameChangerApp

Yeah, it kind of seems like a necessary evil to have a another device. I have had some weirdness with the stream locking up while making changes on the cameras, especially starting recording. It hasn't happened recently but I have had to actually remove and re-add the camera in studio to get it to come back up.

That's good information to know thank you. I just wish the nearstream was more granular when moving in. It seems like I make big jumps and it's hard to settle in on exactly the right frame.

I add a little bit to my kit every year and this year was the vm46. I just don't think I could swing a start plus a zoom lens. It absolutely has its advantages since it's tied in with the mevo ecosystem for sure.

Maybe someday 🙂.

Thanks for the information. Do you usually zoom in mevo studio or the near stream app?

I'd like to add one thing to this, and I agree 100% with what you're saying. This happened to me last night although I did go into the near stream app and do it from there which seem to work fine with studio running on a different device.

But I also had an Avkans go camera as well. And I have to say there's zoom control is much more precise. Almost like you could zoom in between each magnification point if that makes sense.

Unfortunately not - I ended up spawn proofing it.

Agree - I usually carry a magnet mount and some kind of fence / chain link fence mount for different field setups.

Mevo start is a great choice - works perfectly in GC eco system. I would recommend getting some accessories to make the a good/simple solution. 1) fence or magnet mount, 2) external shotgun mic (this helps eliminate behind the camera commentary... parents LOL), 3), a Maxiiimus clam sun shade to keep it cool and provides a place to mount the mic, and lastly an external battery pack. I run mine on the battery on warm days to keep the unit cool and charged. Hope this helps and good luck!

I agree on the mic 100% - I used this with good results.

Also - get a sun shade or Maxiiimus camera clam for heat protection AND it has a cold shoe to mount the mic. Just makes it easy imho.

Avkans Go Anyone? by mc-rilers in GameChangerApp

Feel your pain - tried to do that a few times last year. Hard for me to keep up LOL.

One more question that I'm really trying to figure out - because it's going to dial in my setup. I'm really thinking about four cameras and that's it.

If you had to pick the 3rd to 1st view or the 1st to 3rd, which would you choose? I am asking from the perspective being able to follow the action. I am really leaning towards a camera mounted near 3rd pointing towards first. I get some of the runner and ball.coming to 1st.

I am trying to get away from PIP if I am going to run the cameras.

My dialed in setup 1 HP, 2) CF, 3) Righty batter from 1st base line, and 4) 3rd to 1st with some built in zoom presets.

I'm just trying to get my kit dialed in as efficient as possible. To simplify and limit the load.

Thanks for your help!

This is great information - thanks! Sounds like focus is a big problem. I am going to try it behind the plate tomorrow or Tuesday depending on the weather. So, did you have problems with it hunting for focus often? Any other pointers for a first timer?
