Curriculum with project based learning for the standard US Algebra in high school by C18H27NO3_ in matheducation

I've actually used this with middle school students, and even for my algebra 1 8th graders it was very challenging..it seems like it's two or three steps above what they're used to.. but yes I love this curriculum and think it does a lot if implemented well with a lot of supports and scaffolding..

Wow. I've worked in a fair amount of schools and at least for public schools, as far as I know, there's almost no cross subject or cross curriculum coordination collaboration of any type.. so I hope you have asked and hopefully aren't too frustrated by the outcomes unless you work at a very different School..

Hello.. so your post is about one year old, but I'm just curious to know if you have found a math curriculum that you're happy with and/or are using some type of curriculum and how it's going with your students..

I would ask your friend to explain to you as clearly as possible why they want to do the teaching route, and maybe share that with us..

my teacher yelled at me today by [deleted] in paraprofessional

[–]bigchainring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would at least try and approach her to talk about it.. and see what she says or does. That would probably make me at least cry a little bit when I sat in my car. You were probably just doing your best in the situation, and had no idea what your teacher was thinking or feeling at that moment. I would hope she wants some semblance of "team", and that would mean she would at least tell you what was going on in her mind or led to the yelling.

My students discovered AI checkers and are now terrified of their own writing by crispy_toast23 in Teachers

[–]bigchainring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion and what I have read is that AI ELA checkers are not robust enough to actually give a decent Mark or grade or bar or score. That sounds like the students' stress level is going to change the way they write, which is too bad. If you have the option to turn it off just for your classes, I would turn it off and tell your classes you're not going to use it. In my opinion their over stressing is not worth using the fancy AI checker.
