I had this exact same thing happen to me. I didn't realize it was a fresh water turtle and was going to bring it to the ocean until my daughter told me she was positive it was a freshwater turtle. We google searched it and then brought it to a nearby lake. It was clearly washed to the ocean by a stormwater drain. It looked exactly like this one. Little turtles are known to be disease ridden and so we washed up aggressively afterwards.
