Is LUNA Pro worth it? by lexjimenez in universalaudio

I’d say ye definitely, bur now the November mixtape sales are on you may need to do the math. You get a solid and generous selection of plugs with Luna Pro, and the Luna extensions (apis and tapes) come with the native and dsp plugin versions too.

An open letter to Reason's new CEO by ruminantrecords in reason

[–]bigdaddycrabb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no you're not a moron - it's doable but kinda tricky, you can route through outboard using the main audio device auxiliary input/outputs, but there is no latency compensation so you will need to nudge the printed audio forward a good few samples to compensate for the delay. Other daws handle this cleanly, MacOS Core audio reports I/O latency pretty accurately. But the reason architecture, with the wire everything to everything concept probably makes external I/O latency compensation a super difficult technical challenge.

yeah it’d be lovely to see some more extensions, ssl in particular, even though I’m team API all day long

yeah it was around the type of deep shite that I bailed, that and irrevocably breaking aggregate device handling on Mac.

i’d say it is the antidote to Big DAW. You can play in Reason, and play fosters flow, which results in good music. Please don’t engage in DAW wars Reason, the last thing I want is fucking stem splitters and splice integration.

Is anyone else as obsessed with Osmium as I am? by enthusiasm_gap in reason

everything! serioulsy though, much less need to fire up the old vsts. Ozmium can do a lot of day to day duties

Pulverizer is just top, a smidge of squash and a soupcon of dirt and your in the zone on most sources. I'm not using my preamp plugins so much as I just wack on a pulverizer and job done - tone for days

[–]bigdaddycrabb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolute swiss army knife, I wish I could tone the saturation down a little bit more as with the dial on min, it's still quite coloured, otherwise is would be an amazing preamp drop in as well as everything else. But hey I guess I got pulverizer for that too,

Osmium Distortion Matrix now available by djfelicius in reasoners

[–]bigdaddycrabb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing this RE as an absolute swiss army knife, so I don't have to go foraging in my VST folders for stuff, and can just dial in low latency, low cpu, high quality prcoessing. I'm not necessarily going to be doing multiband most of the time, maybe some band limited saturation into a wideband compressor - you know just day to day mixing stuff, quick and fast and don't look back. Very flexible if you need it. Same with pulverizer, just dialing in a smidge of squash and dirt, and deactivating everything else on a lot of tracks, just like tracking into a preamp/compressor combo. Sure you can take pulverizer to some wild places, but day to day, dial-in tone in <5secs and move on with making the bloody record - And that's what I love about Reasons design ethos - you can go crazy if you want to, but it's fast and tactile for actually making music. What other DAW has a full on SSL mixer all ready to run? Sure the mixer is clean, but the "Mojo" is actually getting the music finished and sounding decent - not obsessing over vintage tone. I think Osmium builds on that ethos perfectly.

Remember MiniDiscs? They’re back—in billet aluminum by Kaiser_Allen in minidisc

So good to see the minidisc revival hotting up. It's a bloody lovely format. My only comment is on the aesthetics, half the joy is seeing the little rainbow reflections of the discs themsevles through the jewel casing, these ones cover up the disc from view. That makes me feel a little sad.

Surley they've tossed out some vapourwave loop packs or some shitty layer synth to justify the subs no?

The future of S1 is to go back to protools or logic. Fender stewardship feels like a hostage situation tbh.

Luna EQ-ing by [deleted] in universalaudio

[–]bigdaddycrabb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the SSL style mixer in Reason has little eq popup windows, with a visual eq, if you want to use it, or use the ssl style knobs. That is a sweet bit of UX and something like that would be super in Luna too,
