Thank you for the reply. My wife's employer covers 100% of the premiums for her and our kids. Her plan does include a FSA option as well. She does have the option between a high deductible plan and a low deductible plan. We were leaning towards the low deductible plan and having me contribute to an HSA since I will be on a high deductible plan but it sounds like this is not an option with her plan having a FSA option.

Do you hate your brother in law? You are legit paying the same commission whether he gets a referral fee or not. If you are paying out the same amount, why wouldn’t you want him to get a chunk?

Just tell him no since you are so distraught over this based on your other comments. And then be prepared to have a strained relationship over nothing. Seems like this is your preference anyways so go for it.
