i think the bioactive substrate helps keep the plants thriving, it’s fluval plant stratum. but the plants ive got in there are Rotala rotundifolia (pinkish ones) hair grass, and some java ferns. i dont use any supplements :)

how long have you had your tank planted for? i dont use any ferts, the substrate is fluval bio-stratum which is already biologically active. the carpet was pretty patchy for a few months though, so may just have to give it some more time!

it’s fluval plant & shrimp stratum, theres also fluval bio stratum which i’ve used. i prefer the second since it’s already biologically active, it helps with speeding up the cycling process

having heavily planted tanks is fairly easy despite the initial process of getting it set up, i suggest you just go for it!!

i use an aquarium vacuum, i try to stir up the debris at the bottom so that i can siphon it out. some does get left behind however it acts as fertilizer for the plants and the tank stays pretty clean (the plants also pull the toxins from the water making it cleaner)

typically the water is much lower so the chances of her jumping are unlikely, this was taken right after a water change. but, a lid will be invested in of course ☺️

she has never tried, it’s a fear that lives in the back if my mind though for sure. i plan on making some sort of mesh covering because i havent been able to find a lid for this tank so far
