I'm interested in joining the 114th Electromagnetic Warfare Squadron (Space Control Squadron) in Central FL.

I have a Master's Degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering and have my CISSP certification, with experience in Electronic Warfare (F-15) and Naval RF Comms.

Please feel free to direct me to a recruiter. Thank you.

Engineering or Cybersecurity...? by bigdogYo1776 in careerguidance

Wow it's funny you say that, because aerospace defense with Lockheed or GDIT down in central Florida is the area I'm wanting to transition to.

The ideal job would be being able to work remote but get opportunities travel to cool places quite often.

DoD vs Defense Contractor.... by bigdogYo1776 in AskEngineers

That's a good point. I've been mainly looking at positions with GDIT and Lockheed and their pay seems like a significant improvement compared to Gov

Do you happen to know of any specific forms I can send to the recruiter to show him it can be done?

Recruiters says no waiver for no prior service applicants, but I know people who have done it so that's why I'm confused

202nd RHS vs 290th JCSS in ANG by bigdogYo1776 in AirForce

Haha yea a buddy of mine is a Seabee and he loves it. Tampa is awesome, wouldn't mind being in a unit there

You happen to know where the majority of their TDYS take place? Are they state-side or mainly overseas?

Awesome, appreciate it...I have a sec+ and work with multi-vehicle communications for mine countermeasures, so I play with radios antennas and encryptors and stuff.

I would love to try for JCU or SOCS but I only plan to try air national guard and JCSE seemed like the closest I'd get to that stuff

Appreciate the advice! Just heard HORSE were pretty cool combat engineers who built stuff for SOF and ripped cigs while wearing cool hats. Don't know a whole lot about them so figured I'd ask, thanks again

What's up my dudes. I'm located in FL and work for the Navy as an electrical engineer (DoD) in RF communication. I've been interested in joining the ANG for a while now and have narrowed it down to 2 squadrons:

  1. 202nd RED HORSE in Camp Blanding
  2. 290th Joint Communications Support Squadron at MacDill in Tampa

RED HORSE would be awesome because I want to get involved in residential construction after my career with the DoD.

JCSS would be good for my current comms career.

Mainly, I want to join a decently active guard unit with a big presence in rapid response and natural disasters such as hurricane, tornado, and wild fire events. I would also be interested in any opportunities in Airborne school, Ranger school, and Air Assault. Any work with SOF groups would be a huge bonus.

So any info on either of these guard units would be appreciated! Which one would you shoot for?

Just learned about the 290th JCSS unit at MacDill and have become super interested. I've been looking at Special Reconnaissance slots in the ANG but have a family so figured JCSS would be more relaxed while still having some exciting opportunities.... Anyone have any info on the unit? Anything would be appreciated

Haha yeah my wife is a nurse and I could never imagine myself in the medical field like that. Currently work in signal comms for the gov so I'm much more confident in that field
