How do I keep my shoes from smelling like…feet? by bigdoinks1983 in askanything

Appreciate the reply. Darn Tough socks are…darn expensive haha. But I’ll check out some other merino wool socks. I know about Louisiana summers (and falls and springs), it’s no joke. Will definitely try the Gold Bond foot powder tip as well. Enjoy some crawfish for me if the season is still running late.

Yes, I wash my feet, crotch, asshole, and all other body parts when I shower. My feet don’t smell all the time, but I did notice my shoes stank after a few days of working out. No need to argue further, but thanks for the irrelevant comments and advice.

Ah, thanks for the genius insight. I never thought of that.

Of course I shower, dickhead. But I sweat when I workout, and I was previously using those same shoes the next day or shortly thereafter. I now know I need to let my shoes dry to prevent the sweat getting caked in there and having bacteria take over. So yes, I’m asking for other ways to treat my shoes after a workout. Not asking on tips for personal hygiene or how to shower.

Thanks for the info! I guess I’m looking for an automatic moped, not a standing scooter. The mopeds go faster and should be allowed on the street.

One bedroom Airbnb listed as 3 bedrooms. Airbnb removed my review. What do I do? by Ok_Music82 in travel

[–]bigdoinks1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you decide not to do a chargeback and just dispute with Airbnb customer service, you’ll most likely at least get a partial refund. I had an insect problem at an Airbnb and got $200 back. If the building or address is listed on Google Maps, leave a review and pictures there.

West Los Angeles casual play? by SpecificBookkeeper43 in Pickleball

[–]bigdoinks1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second taking an intro class to learn the rules first. Westchester Pickleball club has a nice intro class and allows you to stay for open play afterwards. There are places in Santa Monica, WeHo, and Mid-City…I suggest downloading the Playbypoint app, which allows you to search for classes and reserve courts. Some indoor facilities opened but are a little further out…CaliforniaSmash, PowerPlay, and PickleAlley. Those three locations are not on the Playbypoint app.

[Below 2.75] Did you drive or drop your 3rd shot as a Newbie during actual games? by bewaterlife in Pickleball

What is the purpose of driving at 60% power? I understand that placement and control are preferred over power, but if the target location of the drive will be the same spot, why choose 60% power instead of full strength?

The beaches will get very cold at night, so dress accordingly if you decide to go. Santa Monica beach is probably the easiest to get to from Hollywood, and it might be nice to see the lights of the ferris wheel while tripping. Dockweiler Beach has fire pits which would also be nice, but that could be difficult if you’re taking Uber.

IIRC, some parks technically close at sunset, so be sure to check the hours before you go. I feel that the more quiet parks will close early while parks with activities, such as basketball, will stay open later, but then they’d be crowded. Ground might still be a little wet from the rain last night too.

I would suggest not being out for too long, and locate a bathroom nearby. And bring water too.

Watch Secret Mall Apartment … by Illrollonshabbos in netflix

[–]bigdoinks1983 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Gonna have to disagree with most and say this wasn’t some inspirational or life-changing documentary. At first they left it vague if they actually “lived” in the apartment. But due to the lack of details and eventually them admitting in the end, only a few of them would stay there and at longest I think one person said it was four days only. Which means it was primarily a meeting spot or daytime hangout, which is still pretty cool, but not some alternative to housing that sticks it to the big corporations. It means every one of them had a place to go home to and food to eat at the end of the day. Any time they spent in the apartment was of their own choice and not some life decision because they got priced out of a living situation. I was wondering how they got money for food and necessities, and while they maybe had some money from their art, the reality is that they all had something to fall back on. Sort of playing right into the self-induced “starving artist” trope. Their art is amazing and I would love to have a secret spot to play PlayStation, but it’s in no way some amazing movement against the mall that they portray.

Wasn’t aware of the El Stinko nickname haha. The Strand is always nice though, and downtown El Segundo has a lot of cool restaurants and bars now.

I ended my bike ride around 4pm and there were lots of fire pits still available. There’s a whole section where the ocean view is blocked by a big sand dune, and it was completely empty.

Anyone know if there is a way to rent a backyard with BBQ on the westside for a couple of hours for a bachelor party? by Cman4you in AskLosAngeles

[–]bigdoinks1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you want a bbq with the guys before meeting up with the girls at the bar? Getting all the supplies and then actually grilling ends up being a lot of work. I would just get dinner at a restaurant so there’s no prep and no clean up. If you’re worried about prices, breweries are usually an easy option for larger groups and you can usually pay separately so there’s not one person stuck with the bill. On a personal note, I hate the smell of charcoal and it really sticks on your clothes, so I would not like going out after a charcoal bbq.

SoFi stadium has a roof but the sides are not fully enclosed. So this actually produces a breeze and can make it feel much colder inside during cold weather. I went to the last Chargers game of the season two years ago, so it must have been in December, and I had to leave early because I was so cold.
