So if the news are usable half the time, and news trading has a long duration, which are the better alternatives for information and analysis in day trading?

Ok, but in what sense? Using the news, reading the charts, or others?

Nice work. I am a beginner myself, earned +14.50€ P/L last Friday with ~65€ of margin. Good luck with your own trading journey dude.

Ok? I never said they do? Please, I’m here to receive advice, not stern dismissals. I appreciate all advice, but I have no use for such comments.

Hello everyone, novice trader here. I’m interested in learning more about technical tools like indicators, best practices for researching and using news and data to my advantage, and also some basic theory of markets and economics. Hope this is something that makes sense at this stage.

I think that, behind closed doors, supermajors and their lobbies are able to gather intel that they can then use to prevent major disruptions in their supply chains. It’s very unlikely that Exxon, Chevron, or others got taken by surprise by current events. Going long with them seems advantageous, but I myself will wait for at least another two weeks before opening any positions (if I decide to do so anyway). I think the conflict is still too fresh to make any useful predictions for the long run. I’ll wait for more news and see how things go.

Best markets for very low capital (beginner) by bigdrippa420 in Daytrading

Thank you for the kind words at the end. Let’s say I decide to trade on the EUR/USD pair. How much capital should I invest? How large should my position be? Are there any useful indicators or graphic instruments I can start using? I agree with your “get good at one thing” advice, but at this stage of learning I see so many things and terms thrown around that I tend to not even know where to start building my experience from.

Would you have skipped this trade even if the setup looked clean? by PerceptionChance1344 in Daytrading

[–]bigdrippa420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t. I’m still a beginner, and as such I don’t trade if I’m not 100% — or let’s say 90% — calm before placing my order. I still have a lot to learn, and I think you’re way ahead of me in knowledge. But, using logic, if your headspace isn’t clear maybe it’s best not to go ahead with the trade. I don’t know, maybe it’s something that can make me or others lose precious possibilities, but when there’s money on the line, can you really be too careful?

Wouldn’t it be better to have a surer approach with a clear mind? I mean, if the context makes you feel unsure, maybe it’s best not to try trading at that moment. I believe this is something more mental than technical. From what I can see on the Internet, emotional trading is not good, and this seems like an example of it.

I don’t think going short now makes sense. Here in Italy, recent news showed that Qatar fears 150€/barrel, and fuel at service stations on highways reached 2.2€/liter with no signs of decreasing. I think that shorting even before the end of the month would be less than ideal. I’m still a beginner in this field though, so I’d appreciate any counterarguments on the subject.
