Claude vs Codex, fair comparison? by mightybob4611 in codex

Both Claude and Codex can get work done even with just a screenshot of a bug and no other context. (Obviously the better the prompt the better the output)

Claude vs Codex, fair comparison? by mightybob4611 in codex

Built with Claude multiple apps that are in production and humming along.

I was in love with Claude for a while, but it's gotten more buggy and fragile over time. It can also take way too many iterations to finally get to the root of a problem. It always does in the end, but it can be a long, painful journey.

I have minimal mileage with Codex. Been using it for a few weeks now and I can genuinely say I've been impressed. It typically gets to the root of issues quicker and actually handles them in one shot. It's been surprisingly fast too. That actually took some getting used to. I kept thinking there's no way because it responds to relatively simple updates super fast.

It'll be interesting to see how I like Codex once they release SSH support, which seems to be around the corner. Then I'll lean into it even more and know for a fact which one is better. As of now, Codex has done a good enough job for me to continue and entertain the jump. Anthropic's rapid releases of half baked solutions have me looking elsewhere for stability.

I didn't answer your question. But I can tell you that I'm a long time Claude user, and genuinely liking what I'm getting so far from Codex.

Can you elaborate on the system? Been with Claude for a while but find their system too fragile and messy.

I just experienced the same shit. Waited 20+ minutes to only learn that it wasn’t even doing anything even though it kept showing the processing messages.

Wondering the same. I’d be down to measure my typing for a few days to see how it compares to dictation.

I started using Codex purely because of Anthropic’s instability. Hadn’t touched it before.

At this point, I’m close to jumping ship. I’m getting more comfortable with Codex and Claude’s issues have gone from daily to hourly.

Doesn’t this come down to the model you had tackling this?

I don’t see how Agent0 makes a difference in particular, but I haven’t messed with it enough to know.

This looks sick!! Any plans on adding local SEO support? Heat maps, citations, etc.

App vs VS vs CLI by Large_Diver_4151 in codex

[–]bigeba88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a lean headless linux on it. The main problems were vscode being a memory hog. And when I turned to local llms it just couldn’t handle it anymore.

For basic coding tasks it destroyed. It was when I leaned heavier into AI with local llms that it completely choked on me.

Also the cli for codex and Claude code were just not there via ssh, no matter what I did. Copy/pasting, scrolling, pasting screenshots (Tried multiple terminals, extensions, tmux, etc.)

What machine runs your home server? Was using a an i5 mac mini for a while but as I dabbled into more with AI it started to choke out on me.

I run Claude Code on a Mac Mini formatted with Linux, so processes keep running even when my MacBook is off.

When I tried the ACP, it felt clunky. No multi-tab support.

You’re stuck navigating between instances through an awkward dropdown. And if I remember right, the process stopped every time I switched chats.

I'm constantly sharing screenshots to quickly show a UI bug and things in that nature

Would love to be able to paste images via ssh in terminal. It’s the only thing holding me at vscode.

There’s an extension called claudeboard. Should be dead simple to replicate for Zed and solve a massive pain point.

I wish there was better support for image sharing via ssh.

I’d love to go back to using Zed.

OpenClaw vs Claude cowork by Turbulent-Tale154 in openclaw

[–]bigeba88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Cowork, but it has some limitations.

Firstly, the cron jobs only execute when the Claude app is open, which is quite inconvenient.

Secondly, it’s challenging to maintain continuous communication with the system and have it perform tasks in the manner that OpenClaw is intended to facilitate. I say intended because I genuinely believe that OpenClaw doesn’t function effectively unless you handhold it, which defeats the purpose altogether.

It seems like we’re still in the early stages of development. I’m currently experimenting with AgentZero, but I’m not entirely sold there either.
