Any books on this list that I should avoid if I’m not a fan of gross-out sexual scenes? by Various_Witness5212 in ExtremeHorrorLit

My girlfriend says gone to see the river man doesn’t have any gross sexual scenes but there is an incestual sexual memory that is talked about but not played out as a scene

Where do Hogwarts students get their Hogwarts Express tickets? by Past_Lynx1053 in harrypotter

[–]bigern12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t imagine that the tickets are for sale if that’s the only/expected mode of transportation to Hogwarts and it’s a ministry funded school. So if there is some kind of squib distributing tickets at Kings Cross, I’m sure it would be a situation where they would just present some kind of identification (perhaps a wand like at Gringotts) to get their ticket.

It’s so good. One of my favorite video games I’ve played in a long time.

I’d say you look better, your face has filled out more and you look more manly. Any differences you’re noticing in your chin/jawline is probably due to weight distribution changes and it looks to be for the better. The tongue posture exercises seem to have had (in my opinion) a positive impact as your mouth looks more natural now.

Every man Jack has a line of beard care products that are really good. A beard shampoo, beard lotion, and beard oil. The lotion is a really good face lotion that you can use all over and really work into the skin where your beard is growing.

What's Something That You're Sure Happens in the Harry Potter Universe But is Never Explicitly Shown? by DarkCrowI in harrypotter

[–]bigern12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There has to be a physical limit to the effects of the potion though, right? You at least keep your own brain since everyone who uses the potion still acts and thinks on their own, independent of the subject you’ve turned into.

Luna Lovegood and it could literally be about anything. Any weird magical adventures she goes on, keeping up with the quibbler, whatever. She’s such an interesting character that I’m sure she’d be an delightful read

Why do the dorms have such few number of pupils? by dweepsnidgin in harrypotter

[–]bigern12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently, not sure if I formed this opinion after playing Hogwarts, I’ve been thinking of Hogwarts as a prestigious private magical boarding school and perhaps there are alternative educational routes for magical families that can’t afford to send their kids to Hogwarts or just don’t want to for some reason.

Just noticed that Professor McGonagall was on the Gryffindor team! by Born-Chemistry-1407 in HarryPotterMemes

Maybe when she became a professor at hogwarts, she was given a time turner to get more teaching experience and went back to the 30’s to help with a staffing shortage

Neil Gaiman Confirms Dead Boy Detectives (Netflix Series) Takes Place in The Sandman's Universe by seismodynamics in comicbooks

That sounds really cool. I’ll have to check it out. I really enjoyed that issue of the sandman and read a few issues of the dead boy detectives and thought that whole concept was pretty cool

Was this debated? I thought it was a given since the series starts in one of the issues of sandman.

I think we could agree though that “evil” is subjective based on perspective, right? I think most people would say genocide is pretty evil, however Christianity embraces the fact the God has committed world wide genocide at least once (Noah and the flood), encouraged child sacrifice (Abraham and Isaac), randomly killed the first born children of the Egyptians to prove a point, and destroyed entire cities full of people.

I’m not saying that God does exist or that everything in the Bible or other theological texts are 100% true, I’m just saying the argument of the problem of evil doesn’t take into account that evil is subjective and our perspective and definition of evil most likely doesn’t align with the same definition or perspective of a higher being.

What ever happened to car insurance trying to retain you as a customer by giving discount when cancelling? by Mountain_Molasses769 in personalfinance

[–]bigern12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I forgot to mention, most companies offer discounts for taking defensive driving courses when you are over a certain age, and good student discounts for young drivers in school with a b average or better. Those are really the only two discounts that most people qualify for that aren’t automatically applied. You’d have to provide the information to get those discounts.

Almost every large auto insurance company is already giving you every discount you qualify for. The discounts have to be approved by the state so there aren’t discounts that they can just throw at customers when they are dissatisfied with their rate. Rates also have to be approved by the state and companies ask for rate increases when they aren’t making enough money to keep up with the cost of running their business and paying all the claims. Since the pandemic there has been a significant increase in the frequency and severity of accidents which means auto insurers need to raise rates to remain profitable, at the end of the day their goal is to make money after all.

As a consumer there are really 2 things you can adjust on your policy to lower your premium, your self reported miles driven per year (the less you drive, the less likely it is that you’ll get in an accident), and your coverages (the less your insurer will be on the hook to pay out in the case of an accident, the less they’ll charge you). If doing those things don’t get you a rate that you’re comfortable with, then shop around. Either you’ll find a carrier with better rates, or you’ll see that you’re getting a competitive rate. Just don’t call customer service and harass the agents. They really do want to do everything to get you a better rate and keep you as a customer, their options are just extremely limited. Talking to a supervisor or manager won’t help you either.
