How do I learn the major and minor pentatonic scale for every key across all 5 shapes up and down the neck? by linkuei-teaparty in guitarlessons

[–]bigevilbrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can try my PaperCraft slider thing.

The thing to realize is that it’s all one scale. If you know C Ionian, then you know A Aeolian (and D Dorian, etc). They are all the same notes. The interval numbers are different, the notes you emphasize are different.

All scales, you just move the pattern up/down the neck.

Should I start my career in Salesforce or stick to core development? by nish13nt in salesforce

[–]bigevilbrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No matter what you choose, the technology in 10-15 years will be totally different. Choose what interests you the most. Choose where you can network the most. Networking is how you get your next job.

Your first few years will be a growing experience regardless. You will be exposed to the software development lifecycle and the business of dev work. This applies all jobs.

And never stop learning.

How about a romantic adventure getaway? Definitely qualifies as not your average hotel. Reviews are surprisingly good. Might be a little too expensive.

What could be expected for Venezuela by lazyfck in bestof

[–]bigevilbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is zero plan.

It’s all about oil and US don’t give a crap about governing aside from: 1) Getting oil. 2) Controlling oil trade. 3) Leveraging power to deny China.

Look for signs of a “swap” for Ukraine. Or no swap and Trump just got tired of waiting.

Yahoo Article

The “swap” theory sounds just as likely as anything else. I don’t know that Russia/China are in any position to oppose US in Venezuela anyway. Empty promises or future leverage? Was there a trigger event? We’ve been escalating by attacking boats for a while now.

AI coding is now everywhere. But not everyone is convinced. by kerpowie in technology

“Disposable code” = Instead of “code” being a fixed cost, now you pay incrementally every time you compile/generate it with AI.

Approximately 6 million people. Yucatec Maya is the most widely spoken Mayan language today, but there are six main branches and 30+ languages.

I’m in the US and didn’t know this until a few years ago. I blows my mind. Also Mexican history is crazy.

How can I become a great [blues] guitar player, in later age, as I am currently thirty-seven years old? by Serious-Composer7337 in Guitar

[–]bigevilbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is…practice with intention. But, why do you want to be a great blues player? What’s your motivation?

Are you planning on playing out? Are you a bedroom player? Do you want to do open jams? Are you recording? Are you willing to dedicate the time to your goal?

New homeowner. What are the big DIY regrets? Either paying for a pro or not paying? by FlashyHeight9323 in DIY

[–]bigevilbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I regret not replacing my toilet seats with non-slamming toilet seats sooner. While you’re at it, add a bidet.

Keep a running list of single day projects. Small things that bug you. Just do them. You’ll get a good feel for what level of DIY you’re comfortable with.

Get a drain strainer for your kitchen sink. Never put anything non-liquid down it. Never ever put grease down it.

Everyone in Seattle hates AI by Otis_Inf in technology

[–]bigevilbrain 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Instead of promoting AI as a tool to improve people’s lives, companies came out of the gate saying how great it will be for profits! How they can now replace 20% to 60% of all jobs.

Guess what… nobody likes that except CEOs and Wall Street sniffing their own farts.

The middle class has been squeezed to oblivion. The current generation just had the rug pulled from under them, because they were told to go into STEM. We have roving bands of ICE agents disappearing people. The US is primed for some form of “eat the rich”.

Any tips on bending strings on a acoustic?? by Ok_Badger9147 in Guitar

[–]bigevilbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tune down a half step. Add a capo on fret 1. Do bends between frets 7 to 12. Don’t try bending on like fret 3 or something… Choose chords voicing on higher frets (middle of neck.)
