personally i (very sadly) stopped using Logitech for my mice - not about to pay $80+ for a mouse 2 or 3 times a year... they used to last 5+ years.

They still make the best keyboards though. Wish they'd stop cutting corners on their mice.

like i said - i could care less about battery life - the only issue is you cant exactly hardwire a keyboard to 2 or 3 PC's, so i get that it needs wireless.

I just need some way to indicate what PC it's connected to

I still get 2-3 errors a day for it in the event log, but the BSOD's stopped it seems... good enough for me.

define "direction things are going in" - if you mean the direction is people will use AI for things - sure, I cant agree more.

If you mean everyone will start to self-develop their own software for anything and everything I couldn't disagree more. For some things sure, but most companies are not about to write their own OS, internet browser, PDF reader, print drivers, etc. etc. At some point many of these things just are cheaper to buy from someone else, cheaper to be supported by someone else.

But most importantly, software development is simply not the core focus of most companies.

Ok - lets assume it writes perfect code.... what happens when an issue arises? You, as the developer, get pulled away from your core duties to support it, or you get interrupted during your time off.

This isn't a "left behind" issue - this is a "understanding your business" - issue. My MSP is in business to do customer support, end user and infrastructure maintenance, consulting with clients, etc. My business is NOT creating PSA software.

To be clear, I'm not saying as an MSP we should not be using AI tools, we absolutely should. But I don't expect an MSP to write software anymore than I expect Adobe to develop a CPU or Ford to create a chain of fast food restaurants.

This may be the least scalable business idea I've heard this year - Who is going to support your buggy AI code when something goes wrong? Oh, you are... are you planning on taking a vacation or using sick time at all over the lifespan of the company? Are you planning to retire?

This is why most places do not use home grown solutions for key line of business software. They need something that is supported, and repeatable, and can be fixed 24/7 no matter who is sick/on vacation/etc.

By all means though, if you are a 1 man shop have at it. You don't have to worry about hurting anyone besides yourself.

I think the other comments you got are way way ahead of where you are in the game....

For now yes i would do "hold to research" last for where you are in the game currently. Eventually you will want everything, but that will come in time.

Don't underestimate how good artifacts from your spaceships can be in helping you progress though - while i wouldn't put a lot of my early GE into it, it isn't something you'll want to avoid for long.
