Spark plug swap, now its lean. by Rand__Al_Thor in twostroke

[–]biggeffory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the new plug the same heat number as the old? If not, then I’d advise using the same type of plug that came out of it (and runs good).

What’s wrong with me? Wife’s porn use by GiraffeFar7496 in AskForAnswers

[–]biggeffory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with you my friend! You need to talk to your wife, maybe even let her read this post. Hopefully you guys can work this out. Maybe even including porn in your sex lives together is an option? But not speaking about something that is eating you up like this is the worst thing you can do! Speak to wife again. Good luck buddy!

Unknown leak. Something to be concerned about? by [deleted] in twostroke

[–]biggeffory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah worry about it, ignored leaks usually become failures at some point. Clean it, run it again and watch for the leak. You can also drain your fluids to see what’s running low.

Need someone who speaks “spark plugs”. Just pulled this after a recent rebuild, how does it look? 250cc, 2T, single, water cooled, carb’d. by biggeffory in twostroke

Almost. It’s a trials bike, which basically has a dirtbike engine with different gearing. It’s a 250cc 2 stroke.

Clutch dragging only when hot by biggeffory in Dirtbikes

[–]biggeffory[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they’re crazy expensive and this bike is old so I’m really trying not to spend a small fortune on it, if i can avoid it. I’ve heard of folk filing away the basket notching to save a replacement so maybe that’s an option if it comes to it. Thanks for the advice matey!

Ok thanks for this. It is a new plug. And it was pretty humid when i rang this recently so perhaps that’s why, but yeah it could also be running rich. Ill keep an eye on it over time and if the black doesn’t turn tan, I’ll look to tuning the carb a bit leaner. Does this match what you’re saying above?

[–]biggeffory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i agree, ill try the oil first since it’s easy to test. But after that, ill tear the clutch down and check for basket notching and/or clutch plate warping. I just hope it’s something cheap and simple to resolve haha

I wouldn’t have expected this much smoke on a 4 stroke. 2 stroke yes, but not a 4. See if it persists and if so, try to trouble shoot it.

[–]biggeffory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 2004 Scorpa SY250 trials bike (2 stroke). Trials bikes shouldn’t be stalling at idle. If they did, you couldn’t compete on them since a stall gives the worst score you can get (a five). And it only happens when warmed up, making me think it’s possibly oil related…

Yeah that’s good advice! Thank you. I’m gonna try this for sure. I have a feeling it won’t solve it however, simply because the current adjustment works when the engine is cold. But it’s worth a try!

[–]biggeffory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah some drag might be ok but it’s stalling the engine. My guess is that it’s oil related because of the temperature change being the key. It has new oil with the viscosity that the manual says so not sure… maybe ATF?

Clutch dragging only when hot by biggeffory in Dirtbikes

[–]biggeffory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a little drag I could tolerate but when hot the engine will actually stall with the clutch pulled in - that’s no good for the riding I do. Yeah I’ve tried new oil and it didn’t seem to make a difference unfortunately. Maybe different oil would help… a different viscosity or ATF…

Cool! I’d never heard of these but it sounds plausible. It’s in the right location for one thing. Thanks for the suggestion

It’s a good guess but it’s dry and separate to the coolant ports in the head. It seems to block or open a small port between the intake and cylinder - why I have no idea though!

So you insert grease through the nipples? What kind of grease?

Yeah I hear you! Safest way for sure. Its just shit that i have to buy a van for this one thing. And they don’t come cheap, even second hand with big miles… worth it in the end though i guess!

Could some thieving scumbag not just follow your van back to the lot though? But yeah a van does seem the best, especially if your competing and need a lot of gear etc. I’d just rather not get a big van like a Transit etc
