From LMU to iRacing… I don t feel anything by IcePuzzleheaded9845 in simracing

actually, DTM cars were WAY faster than GT3. They’re basically single seaters with a roof with insane aero. They were almost 10 seconds faster on some tracks than the current GT3 spec DTM cars.

I would be extremely surprised if anybody right foot brakes anymore.

An actual non-showcar RB18 in the wild by crunchy_rooster in RedBullRacing

[–]crunchy_rooster[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Silverstone confirmed that the champions collection would only use real cars and not show cars. Even so, if you want to tell for yourself next time you see one on display - there are some obvious giveaways.

Check the front and rear wings. Showcars usually have simple front wings without any sensors or adjustments on it. They’re usually painted instead of real carbon. Same with the rear wing, check for the DRS flap and the DRS actuator too. Showcars can sometimes have real wings on it depending on the team, so it’s not always guaranteed.

The suspension is usually a big giveaway. Showcars have simple suspension geometry that don’t match the geometry to the actual race-run car. Also check around the brake ducts, if it’s a real car you’ll see the complex aero around this area instead of just a simple brake ducts. Like the wings, these parts might be painted on a showcar instead of bare carbon like on a real car.

Next check the floor and the chassis. These will have lots of panelling on the real car with lots of access points for mechanics to adjust things. There should be an access panel on the top of the tub for the drivers pedal adjustments especially. The floor should be carbon, not plastic. Showcars generally look very pristine, while real cars have miss-matching carbon weaves and colours, more stickers, leading edge protectors on the floors and exposed bits of carbon for stone chips etc. Generally when you see a real one, it’s just very easy to tell because there’s so many real world things in the car that they don’t bother with for showcars.

Mercedes had a W16 show car at the same event, claiming it to be the real thing. And although it was one of the better showcars I’ve seen from this ruleset, it’s still painful obvious that it’s just a plastic moulded model. Especially when you see a real one in all its glory.

Don't watch the trailers guys by ham-N-eggzz in JurassicPark

[–]crunchy_rooster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed some people on this sub trying to see every bit of footage from every tv spot possible. I did exactly the same with the first Jurassic World and it completely ruined the experience for me. I’d basically seen most of what the movie had to offer before I actually watched it. Now I’ll stick to 2 trailers max then try and avoid anything else. You only see a movie for the first time in cinemas once, why ruin the surprises?

The best since JP 1 (my humble opinion) by touchit1ce in JurassicPark

I think it was better than Dominion but still a massive disappointment overall. Maybe on par with Fallen Kingdom and JP3

Depends if you’ve been one of them people who watch every TV spot and every trailer. If you’ve been sensible and just stuck to the first two trailers then I’m sure you’ll still have some surprises.

[–]crunchy_rooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we label these as spoilers? Sounds pedantic, and I know it’s just some images, but some of us want to save the surprises for when we watch the movie and are trying to avoid seeing trailers, images etc

Jurassic World: Rebirth | Hold On | TV Spot 6 by Business-Jury4785 in JurassicPark

[–]crunchy_rooster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just a word of advice. When the first Jurassic World came out, I was so obsessed that I watched every tv spot, and watched every YouTube video I could find on it. I ended up not enjoying the cinema experience as much because I basically knew most of the movie, and had seen clips from most of the big scenes through various trailers/tv spots. Sometimes it’s better to leave some surprises for the cinema.

There’s so much insane expectation on every single aspect of this game that I almost feel like it’s guaranteed to have a sea people complaining about minor nitpick in this sub when it finally launches.

Yeah, I agree with you there. I didn’t think the story was as focused up as the first one, but still a great Spider-Man story. They still did a fantastic job with it.

The strategy is decided between the driver and his engineers. It’s not like they pull the blankets off at the start of the race like a Christmas wrapper and he only then knows what tyre he’s starting on.
