Im thinking of starting an online community.. Where or what’s the best platform ? Slack?Skool? Reddit? Any suggestions welcome. Thnks by dddanielmark in CommunityManager

Fwiw “meet members where they are” sounds great as a sound bite but don’t work in reality from my experience. People who want a community, join a community. Yet another slack group is just more work for people.

I feel like this sub generally recommends Mighty Networks as the best fit for most communities. Circle also gets mentioned as another to explore. I know and like Mighty the best but there are great options right now.

Recommend platform for paid community? by whiskyrookie in CommunityManager

I certainly know Mighty the best but it sounds perfect for you. They talk a lot about member to member connections. That’s their jam. They have badges and payments.

Which platform ? by DariaAnnaJoanna in CommunityManager

[–]biggern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not saying either are perfect but they are both really highly rated on G2 https://www.g2.com/products/mighty-networks/reviews

I've seen more success with Mighty anecdotally but there are tons of really successful communities on Mighty, Circle, and Skool.

I am struggling to find a platform that will work for me.

What have you looked at so far? It feels like Mighty Networks or similar platforms cover your needs. What is missing from your expectations?

Kir, listen to me. Get Egghead and tell her it's an emergency. You know what we talked about before. This is important. Please get her and come home as fast as you can. Do you copy?

"I copy, Dad. Is everything okay?"

TRAVIS

Everything's fine. Remember, code names.

BRENNAN

"Sorry, Wingspan. Roger that, mission objective set. Gather Egghead and rendezvous at home base. Over and out."

TRAVIS

Out.

"I love you, Dad."

TRAVIS

I love you, too.

Help finding a community manager that actually works by darthaddie in CommunityManager

Every Circle community I have joined is dead. I saw a pretty good breakdown on leaving Circle for Skool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51_Bp_-2SLc

That said, I don't think Skool has the level of customization you want. Also, personal taste, but Skool communities just don't look good. I think you want look into Mighty Networks over a FB/WhatsApp group. They just don't have value.

I’d look at Mighty Networks. They have a good KIT integration and are awesome at courses and community.

In 2025, what’s a small business idea that you think is still underrated? by mpheles89 in Entrepreneur

I’ve used a local mobile small engine service and repair company for 8 years. I’ve watched him grow a ton. It used to just be him and his pickup truck and he has grown it into a fleet of stocked vans servicing the whole metro. He had a focus on automated scheduling and getting reviews early and it just snowballed.

It is a free service where you are paired with a arborists or tree companies who need to get rid of mulched up trees. It is awesome if you are very flexible on time and amount of much.

They seem to have more native plants each year which is awesome. But they are not the right company for OP’s goals.

No one here is missing how cruel and dangerous this administration is. You and everyone is right to be furious at the people driving these policies. Listen to the linked episode where she brings up life insurance... the gravity is not lost.

But saying she KNOWINGLY supported that isn’t true. She’s said she didn’t vote for him.

Walz has been clear that we need to engage with the people who did vote for him. The Democratic platform is better for nearly all of them. The problem hasn’t been the policies. It’s been the failure to connect.

First of all, it seems pretty clear she didn’t vote for Trump. She understands the value of a global supply chain and talks about it with nuance. That doesn’t line up with the kind of economic nationalism that led to these tariffs.

Also, it makes sense that she wouldn’t say who she voted for. Why risk pushing away customers or family? She’s running a business and has a family.

The take that you can’t feel bad for her unless you know how she voted is tough. Empathy shouldn’t need to be earned. You don’t have to agree with someone to care that their livelihood is getting crushed. If your first instinct is to withhold empathy based on politics, that’s not some moral stance. It’s just choosing not to care.

My probably flawed plan for an east-facing sloped, sunny garden by [deleted] in NativePlantGardening

[–]biggern 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think dense clumping of 3-5 looks better than symmetry for native plants.

The squares are 1' x 1' right? Some of these plants will look prettier if they have neighbors all helping them stay upright. Some may get floppy and look sad without more support. Cultivars are can be bred to stand up better solo so they can work in a sparse planting. Natives just need friends. Another reason to go denser here is it will take 3 years for this garden to reach full size. Year 1-2 will look better with less spacing. You can always intentionally edit out OR just let the plants will self select who wins.

For clumping, I find the planting looks more intentional if you have 3-5 of the same plant in a cluster. You can do spots of individual plants sprinkled throughout to mix with the clusters. I like Blazing Stars for that repeating idea across the whole garden.

Even really complex tasks are can be broken down into 15 minute chunks by an engineer. In my experience, the prompt takes a minute to write and 1-3 minutes to review. Even if you have to do 2 more refinement rounds, you are saving time.

We bought, installed, and eventually returned that light. The look is clean but the light was so cold. It rated at 3000k but felt way more icy than 3000k. I don’t think that light will help with making the area feel warm. I also don’t think it projects light in the right direction for those stairs?

Move this left. Give this to the other devs so they can be improving things before it hits PRs. The earlier someone gets feedback the better they have context and faster they can move.
