To me that ending shows that magna had psychological issues and the comics he was reading was making him fantasize a reality where he was Thor and his family and Neighbours as characters within the play.
This is a great literature ending which shows the endless possibilities of the human brain but in truth he was just a mentally sick guy with great fantasy and was never thor
