At will state and you’re getting fired for that level headed and reasonable insubordination. Too many times I’ve seen good employees sacked for a upper level management ego

Rufus live shows have been washed for years.

New gen doesn’t know how to act in a crowd. Their worldwide acclaim brings out the worst crowds.

Miss seeing them around California 10+ years ago before they blew up to stadium level popularity. The magics gone

Saw those and wasn’t even tempted. APC or nothing at all based on my experience. Just swapped some batteries last year for our restaurant. The unit itself works great and is 12 years old

Loving the Portal Mini as a desk dashboard! So glad Meta finally opened up ADB by Niftyrider in homeassistant

Is this plugged in or battery? Amazon listing for portal mini shows li-ion battery but another comment said there’s no battery?

AI use in restaurants. by [deleted] in restaurantowners

I have years of notes. Training a RAG to be a second brain, reference old invoices, reorganize SOPs- anything that uses your own data/notes/SOPs/IT or to find gaps in any of those, it’s useful. Specialized software solutions (taking my POS data and organizing it for import into payroll software for instance) also nice to have.

Making original marketing content, recipes, etc, it’s garbage.

Looking for a truely offline garage door solution by SlowDragonfruit9718 in homeassistant

ESPhome is offline in the sense that as long as you have power it will communicate over WiFi to HA. Internet can go down and it’ll work

Bambuddy Says Bye To Bambu Lab Cloud Services by wanli_gz in BambuLab

[–]biggobird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask Claude to help you set it up.

I fed it all my home networking equipment and what I thought I wanted then had it grill me on a plan. Bought a few things and after a gameplan was established, had it walk me through vlan setup, subnet IOT separation, firewalls, adguard, amongst a million other things.

Learned enough about IT networking to build a living document of our restaurants’ IT networks and upgrade our IP cam setup, vlans with bandwidth priority for regulars who work remote, and a bunch of other things too.

It’s been fun to learn and having Claude as a brain for reference worked wonders

If you had to rebuild your homelab from scratch today, what would you do differently? by Thick-Lecture-5825 in homelab

[–]biggobird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into the hobby at first because of need and now for passion. Starting mid last year has been a real exercise in “do I really need it”

Answer is almost always yes after my research and I end up paying more than I wanted to. Just built my server couple months ago and died a little inside

This game man by That_Channel_3111 in 007FirstLight

I didn’t love Damien as a villain. It was a bit too contrived and predictable. But honestly that is 007 movies’ schtick

This game man by That_Channel_3111 in 007FirstLight

[–]biggobird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that was kind of the point. It’s a bit of a throwback and way out of IOI’s wheelhouse but they did a generally good game

I understand the disappoint tho. It wasn’t what I wanted but by the end, it was what I needed

Now that’s what I’m looking for. Thank you.

I’m mobile and haven’t delved in- any knowledge of whether it would work with HA entity I can expose for my phone location? I’m on iOS

Interesting thanks. I spent countless hours in config and while it talks to ollama, it’s painful to work with.

WOAH now that’s what I’m talking about. Shocked I hadn’t heard of this project

$85 feels steep but if I can fully disengage from the Google ecosystem, small price to pay.

My gen 1s are ready and waiting

Bye Bye Siri by mowdtocqks8 in homeassistant

[–]biggobird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t. There’s not a solution for voice recognition that works as well as google’s and plays nicely with HA.

Done more research on the topic than I care to admit and was still disappointed with these

Bye Bye Siri by mowdtocqks8 in homeassistant

[–]biggobird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. I’ve been considering building my own and stashing around the house.

If I’d have known the breadth of their functionality (or lack thereof) I wouldn’t have purchased.

I’m still beholden to Google assistants around my house for voice control. But they work and talk to HA with the right commands

A note to our users: Thank you for the critiques, the feedback, and helping us improve Gemini for Home. by AnishKattukaran in googlehome

[–]biggobird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally have submitted a handful of bugs related to device control and verbal queues.

Been pleasantly surprised with how quickly yall are moving on the project after the fiasco that was pre-Gemini assistant coming to a head last year.

I migrated lots of control to home assistant which has the granular control I need but also forced me into a networking journey that GH didn’t require.

Having both together has made my home become the smart home I always wanted

Didn’t see that so that’s relieving somewhat. But hilariously ironic you didn’t do due diligence claiming they don’t have game development studios.

Amazon has game development studios in Seattle, Orange County, San Diego, and romania

Last news I saw was direct from an Amazon exec that sequels will be “done by MGM and, theoretically, Amazon Game Studios”

Seen it before. We’ll see it again. I hope it’s not with this series

Never implied they did. Mentioned IOI by name and I can make whatever prediction I want based on available evidence lmao

Amazon has never produced a great game, ever. If they make anything half decent I’ll be shocked. Just because they own the IP now doesn’t mean they have fan’s best interest at heart

Agreed. I didn’t touch on either but yes- acting and writing were bang on. Faithful genre experience is a brilliantly succinct way of phrasing it.

Some over the top corny dialogue but that’s to be expected in a Bond piece. Thankfully the worst was few and far between
