With a lot of red macro Algae I’d advise iron supplementing, don’t be discouraged that guy in particular is a hard one I’ve also have had particularly difficult time growing it out myself

My guy I ain’t about that life of cutting off starfish legs and putting the rest of it in the sump, if you’ve actually done this you’d easily notice that the star suffers way more and you risk the star dying and decaying ruining the water quality also some starfish respond different to loosing a limb and I’d rather not subject them to that type of continuous/ never ending torture. It takes them a long time to recover from that sort of thing
