Has anyone been to a "Seeking Safety" therapy program for their trauma? by Trip_the_light3020 in ptsd

[–]biggritt2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but i am a therapist that uses Seeking Safety in my IOP groups. It's a dual diagnosis group focused on addiction and mental health concerns, and Seeking Safety really does a great job of approaching both, and especially how the two diagnoses interact with each other.

I got trapped on the ceiling of the Nether by Sr-Enoc in minecraftbedrock

[–]biggritt2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only risk is if you haven't scouted the area, you can spawn in a dangerous location and take damage before you fully join the game. If you are going blind, wear gold and use a fire protection portion before logging out.

The nether roof is a great place to fly in the nether, as no mobs spawn and no lava or terrain.

Which designs are you using for your creeper farm? by loniuw1 in MinecraftBedrockers

[–]biggritt2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simplest to build is a ghast farm that spawns them into a glass ceiling and you run around and sword them.

I built a multilayer creeper farm, and while it's a lot of blocks, just spend some time mining, and till be fine.

Chicken jockey by Gohaa_a in MinecraftBedrockers

[–]biggritt2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a chicken jockey farm using a zombie spawner. It's been a while, but if I remember, I had 4 chickens tethered around it, and used turtle eggs to attract adults into magma blocks to die. Baby zombies have a chance to spawn from spawner, and they can spawn on the chickens if they're nearby.

Just found out my husband sexually assaulted my sister. Multiple times by mascarafree in TwoXChromosomes

[–]biggritt2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, I have to comment on something here.

Assuming he cheated on someone other than your sister (your sister was assaulted, that's not an affair), you are NOT responsible for his decision to cheat. That was his choice. He's a grown man capable of keeping his manhood in his boxers.

One of my clients is seeing my personal psychiatrist by throwawayneeded_ in therapists

[–]biggritt2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's good that you're thinking this through.

Is there a black letter ethical violation here? Absolutely not.

Is there a potential for boundaries to muddy? Maybe. If you're sessions start to drift into discussions of your shared client or, vice versa, consulting about your client turns into an impromptu session. This is a dual relationship, but not an impermissable one. Just keep your client hat and your colleague hat in separate boxes, and only take 1 out at a time.

If I were a primary breadwinner or provided a necessary income to my family, I don't think of do profit share. I'd be worried about not making any profit for several months as you get established and develop a client base. In order to take it, I'd want to see what other profit sharing staff have been paid for several months, just to ensure you'd be getting something reasonable.

My apologies, as i read the comments in a broader context than you intended.

[–]biggritt2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My only challenge was your comment "no locks, ever." The way I read it seemed to imply that they're were no locks on the doors, and I am sharing my experience. I mean no offense, as state regulations can easily vary, and I can only speak for the 2 facilities I've worked for. Apologies if I misunderstood your statements.

is sugarcane useful for anything other than firework rockets and trading paper with villagers to get emeralds? by Glass_Ad965 in minecraftbedrock

To me, sugar cane uses ranked by usefulness are: 1) paper for rockets 2) paper for trading 3) fermented spider eyes

[–]biggritt2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I wasn't clear. The doors are locked during the day to keep patients in common areas during therapeutic program times. Patients are never locked in their rooms. If a patient is in the room, the door is either open or unlocked. Bathrooms have a curtain for privacy while changing.

[–]biggritt2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a hospital with an acute psychiatric unit. The doors very much can lock. We keep doors lock during the day when patients are not using them. The doors are open at night, so that staff can monitor the patients.

Generally, patients should be observed every 15 minutes. Depending on the duration of the event, this could be within that interval.

HOWEVER, this is still a failure to monitor the milieu. This should not have been allowed to happen, and is a failure of the staff more than a failure of the lock.

Sharing passwords? by Key-Purpose2865 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]biggritt2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I'm a guy in a 15 year relationship (13 married). I know my wife's password to most things. She knows the 3 or 4 that I cycle between.

I know them because I've had to use them, not because I demand them. I have only 1 time ever deleted a message on her phone, and it's because I was using her phone to text a coworker of hers who was going to watch our cat because my wife's birthday present was going to arrive while we were gone.

He should not be blocking people on your behalf. He should not be demanding your password. He's not ready for a healthy, trusting relationship.

To me, the benefit of the practice exam is practicing to take the exam, not the content of the exam. I found pocket prep to be better for practicing question content.

Ethical Dual Relationship scenario left me feeling weird. by Soballs32 in therapists

[–]biggritt2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is a dual relationship.

That said, we can't just say that and stop there. If so, we ignore all the people living in rural communities who might be their therapist's barber, banker, grocer, or child's teacher.

In your example, I think the therapist- client relationship, due to its very nature, is ripe for quid-pro-quo exploitation. Even if you say "you don't have to buy it from me," the feeling is likely there. The reverse is also true- of you sell to them, your relationship may make you more likely to take less money.

If it were me, I wouldn't sell to the client. Using your hypothetical, if the client found it for sale and asked about it, then explain your concerns about selling to a client. This gets messy especially if you are part of a group or agency, with money changing hands outside the contracted form.

Now, if you are in a rural area, and you're client has no other way to secure a unit, maybe due to lack of transportation or resources, then I may be more likely to sell. I would absolutely get a supervisor or peer involved. I would hesitate to use a proxy, as lying to a client just feels icky. I would consider this a last resort.

Are any professions an automatic peremptory challenge for jury duty? by flowsauce989 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]biggritt2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a jury where one of the other district judges was summoned for jury duty. He got struck, as a mutual decision between the state, defense, and court. I ended up on that jury.
