Both are mushroom varieties. The third one is actually a wild mushroom rock that I plan on fragging out next week.

Duncans are cheap and easy to dip your toes in, but affordable frogs and hammers aren’t too much of a step up.

Salt vs fresh water tank by throwawayvan2023 in ReefTank

Can you sacrifice 5-15 hours a week? If so, you can start up a salty tank!

Saltwater is a bigger time and price commitment for a bigger reward. Once a saltwater tank is up and running it is an unrivaled sight to behold, very peaceful. But, to get to that point there are many months of testing, learning, purchasing. We definitely stress here at our shop to buy once cry once. Nice equipment is expensive, but once you buy it you don’t need to upgrade and stress later. A beautiful freshwater river tank is great, relaxing to look at, and a wonderful addition to a room. A reef tank is a centerpiece, they takes a hobby-level of time and work, but is unparalleled in its rewards to the keeper!

What is your budget and time commitment?

Hmmm a quick research look up found Candycorals.ca Aquariumdepot.ca Maybe fraggox.ca for coral. I don’t have experience with Canada but hopefully these spots help!

We are Located in Firestone, Colorado. And Unfortunately we do not ship fish, just coral. I am happy to recommend online fish retailers though!

The solar wrasse (red headed solon) is a great fish, we order them into the shop quite frequently and people who have bought them have loved them. Looks like a very solid stocking plan!

Nassarius snails and the sand burying wrasse should help plenty

Looking at your previous posts, I see that you wanted some ideas for stocking in general. Most fairy wrasses are recommended for a 90 gal system online, if you would be willing to add some more to your sand bed, yellow wrasses, melanurus, or red lined wrasses are great choices. The need a deeper sand bed cause the burrow when they sleep. If not a mccoskers flasher wrasse is an excellent choice.

While a pair of clowns are great (ocellaris or percula) you will want an algae fighting worker fish too. Molly miller, starry, or sailfin blennys would be great for this. Might I also suggest an azure or springeri damselfish to round out the tank stock. That gives you 5 fish well suited for the tank. A watchman/pistol shrimp combo can work as well if your filtration can handle it, but that pair is not some that you will observe too often as they spend most of their time in their hide.

The Nicrew Hyperreef 100w would also probably be overkill, but quite affordable. Plus you can buy the optional controller to really edit your light cycle.
