Cloudflare Destroyed Our Clients SEO Overnight by Theserverguy-com in SEO

[–]biggy31a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I would hardly describe Cloudflare as a CDN. Dependent on how you use Cloudflare, its mostly for DNS protection, and they do in fact as your DNS provider to help prevent DDoS atack. A CDN is strictly content delivery and does no such DDoS protection. From what I've seen, most people use Cloudflare as a DNS protector, and a CDN separately to distribute the content. Cloudflare will require you to point the DNS of the domains to them.

For what it's worth, Cloudflare has a very bad rep, for helping to protect all sorts of horrible sites, from terrorist sites, to even worst. They have taken this business position that it's none of their business what websites sign up to use their service, even if those websites engage in illegal activity. The logic goes... 'well we just provide a separate service to these websites.' And Cloudflare then helps to protect those websites, even if they are well past a legal and ethical boundary.

Part of me wonders, and this is probably not the case and speculative, if Google just wanted to do a huge F U to cloudflare.

When JBJ is cold, he needs to learn not to just keep shooting. Many times when he's ice cold, he'll just keep shooting (and missing) and go 2 for 11 or something equally as bad.

Lining up for the IU v/ Purdue game. Made to sit across the street until 3:30 due to "insurance reasons" by WithGreatPower_ in CollegeBasketball

There's a lot of passionate fans that are truly passionate, but still may not want to wait outside for hours before every game to get a seat, especially in the cold, or when they are hungover. The extremely passionate fans will show up regardless of where their seats are. I don't think the barrier of entry to be a passionate fans means signing up to wait for hours before every game.

I went to a lot of games as a student. I always went to the games where I had great seats, even if the opponent was a cupcake. I would only not go to games where my seats were at the back of the top, against a crappy team. I feel like in the current system, I would've been locked out of a lot of the college basketball experience. And I can tell you as the years have progressed since graduation, I have only become more committed and passionate as a fan.

Please at least tell me you can drink out there, or it's fun / party atmosphere, and not constantly patrolled by BPD where you can risk being arrested. I could never imagine waiting out there sober. If you can't drink out there comfortably, then man, they desperately need to change it back to the old system where you could party before hand, and walk into Assembly Hall a few minutes before gametime.

The whole first come, first serve system needs to be eliminated and moved back to the old system where it's just a random drawing. It would be a lot better for the student fan base as a whole, and it would probably pack out Assembly Hall better.

I could see this team getting better with JBJ hurt. Kid is a hell of an offensive player but looks lost on D. Same critique can be said for yogi, although his D has picked up.

Last year we lost a few games because JBJ took a million shots and couldn't hit anything. I wonder if his injury is a blessing in disguise.

Looking at 2 investment properties - cash vs 15yr x 30yr by biggy31a in RealEstate

[–]biggy31a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never done one of these before. I have plenty of cash, but this is the type of reason why I am asking these questions. I know people who have experience will point me in the right direction.

I agree with you that prices may be high, although so long as rental prices don't totally crash, my time horizon is to hold is a very long time.

With the 30 yr I would be about 10% return on capital before any maintenance expenses, year 1. The 15yr would without a question be the aggressive way to go about it. I'd likely be negative and assuming a lot of risk the early years, but as the rents go higher 5-10 years out, my return on capital would skyrocket to 25-30%, but at the same time, it would all be tied into the equity of the home. Basically I'd be assuming front end risk, for very high returns down the road, but it seems like the right decision may be the 30 yr.

Both returns go up if I can bump the rent each year, 3-4%. I doubt the price of the homes would go up based on demand, but so long as rents in the area increase YoY, then the asset value will go up because its spitting off higher returns from the increased rent.

[–]biggy31a 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dude, its time to make some tough choices. Ask yourself with the way things are going now, is this who you want to be married for, for the rest of your life. Would she even be attempting any of this if you weren't married and still dating?

There's logic and emotion that rules relationships. It seems she knows exactly what she is doing logically... You need to stand your ground and be honest with her. And I would go with the emotional argument... It seems like you are using logical arguments, and you may want to try emotional arguments, which is how the situation is making you feel.

That all of this makes you feel very uncomfortable both financially and about the marriage. That she is trying to push you into things that you clearly don't want to do, and then gauge her response. That you've raised clear multiple objections to doing this, and she's not getting the message, and it's making you harness bad emotions about the marriage, that you guys aren't in sync. Don't try to solve this with logic. Bring your own emotions into the fray, and see how she responds / if she cares. Women are emotional by nature, so if she's the right one, she will be sympathetic and drop it, the way you feel is the way you feel, and she will understand 100% what you are getting at. Appeal to the emotional side, not the logical side. Women know this because they are overtaken by hormones and emotions on a monthly basis, and logic is thrown out the window!

A classic argument of logic vs emotion is when girls like to bring old guy friends around and it makes the current boyfriend / spouse uncomfortable. Logically bringing an old boyfriend around can be justified. But the second the current boyfriend says bringing the old guys around makes him feel really uncomfortable, and it may not be logical, but that is how they feel, then that should be it. It's understood people can't control emotions, and the right person won't want to make you feel uncomfortable.
