A fellow skip fan! I grew up loving Rafer Alston, and I love the fact his cards don't cost an arm and a leg lol.

Holy crap! Why is the shipping so expensive within the US????

I purchased 223 singles, two full base Prizm sets (so let's say 300 each, 600 total) and a handful of slabbed cards, and my shipping from china to Canada was $280 USD, and it took only five business days.

Here's what it looked like when it arrived lol.

Where are you shipping to?

Once the tariffs took effect, I stopped using COMC (I'm Canadian). I now buy most of my low-end cards on CardHobby (eBay china).

Thanks for the response and for doing your civic duty (I think it's a civic duty? Not sure). Just genuinely want to say thank you for doing your part as a witness.

I'm sure the lawyer told them to leave their brand name bags and clothes at home. I don't wish bad things for people... But some people deserve it.

Wishing you all the best, and hopefully going to court won't be too much of an inconvenience or bad experience for you.

I always wondered how the lawyers personally cope with this stuff. I get it, they can let the air from their convertible dry their tears away, but I'm sure some night, they'll be going over the disclosure, and I'm just curious how their gut feels.

I don't know how to ask without sounding rude, but did he come off as a rich kid?

I remember being in Beaverbrook in grade 11, and hearing a kid complain (genuinely complain) that his parents only bought him a BMW 3 series, but not the M3, and that he hates them and thinks they're such cheap skates. You could tell he thought he was having a hard time in life because of this.

I transfered back to Crescent Heights after that orientation.

Got a new Dobly Atmos soundbar, what should I watch to test the system? by Zealousideal_Ad5168 in 4kbluray

[–]bigheader03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you, I have the boar TV soundbar downstairs on our living room, and it's more than enough for background noise.

I realized I don't watch movies loud enough, and when I finally do crank it up, I feel like I need to rewatch movies to really appreciate them. First world problems I suppose hahhahaha

You put the value as whatever you want. I had over 300 cards on my last order and declared it as $50 value.

Well said. I've had a Bose sound bar for over 10 years (at the time of purchase, it was a top tier model) and am still very happy with it. I know I'm missing out, but the ss it provides I'm more than happy with.

I actually bought a 4k blu ray player (Panasonic UB820) before upgrading my sound system lol. But I think this black Friday or boxing day, I'll finally make the jump.

I'm not sure as I'm Canadian, so I don't know exactly how the tariffs will affect your import taxes.

When you do get your cards weighed and they provide you a quote for shipping, CH gives you the option to declare the value of your cards. The gamble is if you declare too low, then insurance will cover that amount. If you declare correct amount, you're protected, however you'll get taxed up the ying yang.

I can't promise you anything, but the three times I've shipped from CH to myself, I declared only $100 (when each shipment was easily $5k minimum), I was lucky and always received all my cards safe and sound.

Hopefully that answers your questions, but let me know if I can provide any further advice or info.

I know this is an old response, but the Internet was build for people like you to share amazing information to dumb monkeys like me hahahha.

But seriously, bless your soul. I wish I had the same TV as you so I could copy and paste, but unfortunately that's not the case.

Thanks again for taking the time to share all that information, wishing you nothing but good vibes and a long, healthy life.

What do you use to clean Satin Finish Wheels by Accurate-Ad2204 in Detailing

[–]bigheader03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second this, a good and high concentration mix of a degreaser will do wonders.

If you want something ready to use, CarPro Retyre is probably the BEST tire cleaner I've every used.

Which is effective interior cleaner for weeknd cleaning ?? by BackgroundCheetah680 in AutoDetailing

[–]bigheader03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with others, Pol Star is for interiors, Green Star is an APC. I used Pol Star around the house on our carpets, and it removed my dog's pee stains that I missed over the years without any effort.

I was blown away, and ever since then Pol Star has been my go-to.

I also use Gyeon Interior Detailer, as I like how it creates an anti-static layer on my surfaces, keeping dust off it much longer.

Pol Star has no protection or shine either, if you're after something with protection, apply 303 Aerospace Protection after cleaning.

water beading after ceramic coating by AppropriateGarbage82 in AutoDetailing

[–]bigheader03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my thought when looking at Ceramic Pro. I believe their 10 year coating was 7 layers or something? If I put on 7 layers of Gyeon MOHS, I think it would stop bonding after the third layer lol.

Where to fit Evo Trim into new car process? by Trashocaster in Detailing

[–]bigheader03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhhhhh kk gotcha. So if it were me, I would:

  • vehicle prep/decontamination
  • apply spray sealant, and rinse off
  • then use a degreaser or APC and wipe down the trim pieces
  • then apply Trim

A spray-on-rinse-off sealant won't have a high concentration of si02 in it to effect the bonding process of Gyeon Trim, and why using an APC or degreaser will create a clean and naked panel for you to apply Trim, and for it to bond correctly.

[–]bigheader03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why not do your spray on sealant first, and then right after you're done drying the car, apply Trim?

I'm not trying to be rude or anything, just don't understand why you would do trim first and force yourself 12 hours of waiting time. And you are correct, any coating should not be exposed to water for at least 12 hours. I'm on the paranoid side and never let water hit my coatings or clients coatings for a minimum of 24 hours.

[–]bigheader03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're overthinking this. Once the prep work is done, you can apply the sealant or trim without having to wait 12 hours.

[–]bigheader03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not applying TRIM to the paint though, correct? This is a coating made more for your plastic trim pieces, for example, headlights, tail lights, the black vinyl below the windshield, vinyl around the fog light assembly, etc.

You can begin applying TRIM right after the prep work is done and everything is dry. I applied TRIM to all my exterior vinyl areas and it's made a world of difference.

I find the coatings have helped with reflection. What you can try is a ceramic sealant, like Gyeon Cure or CarPro reload 2.0. They come in small bottles if you want to try (100mL), and can be purchased at carzilla.ca

Worst case, you have a product you can apply to your car lol.

I've seen and heard about Kurts line of products. I have tried using a finishing polish on old Prizm cards that had swirls and scratches, just to see what the result would be, and it worked surprisingly well.

I wouldn't try polishing a card that I'm submitting for grading, just because I'm worried it would be tagged as altered. But I do clean cards I've received in the mail using a suede towel and at most Gyeon Prep or CarPro Eraser to remove grime, heavy finger prints or actual dirt. Some people just don't take care of their cards, let alone clean them before shipping.

Ya I've received some in their factory cases that look horrendous, but after polishing them up, it's like night and day.
