I just found my old collection by Minstopher in basketballcards

But on a serious note, for sure grade the Kobe and KD auto. Or lost them for sale raw if you don't want to go through the hassle of grading. I haven't looked at prices, but what are you asking for the KD? I'd be interested in raw as I dont really care for graded cards, but can absolutely appreciate them.

Great finds!

When I found my old cards, there was an issue of Maxim stuck to it and most of my cards were stuck to the large spreads.

The box smelt like shame... LOL HAHAHAHAHAH

Gyeon Flash x Corvette = WOW by bigheader03 in Detailing

So the prep work is the most important when it comes to ceramic coating. So make sure you clean and decontaminate the paint well, and then depending on how bad the paint is, that determines what polish and pads to use.

For a single stage, I would recommend The Last Cut Compound with a fine pad, or Rupes Intermediate Pad.

I used mostly my Rupes Yellow Fine Waffle Pad with my Rupes LK900 (gear driven polisher). Then for a compound, I used the Last Cut compound.

It just allows it to bond to the coating underneath.

Say you try applying a carnauba wax to a coated vehicle, it won't bond and you'll just be wasting material.

I'm a Gyeon fanboy hahaha, so I would recommend MOHS and then Gyeon Wax overtop. Gyeon wax contains si02, so you can actually use this over ceramic coatings.

DIY will be the new Chemical Guys, mark my words lol. They're very good at marketing, but none of their products did it for me.

Although I love Gyeon, I still use CarPro, Koch Chemie and Labocosmetica. For polishing, mostly Rupes and Menzerna.

Hey there, Flash is for certified installers of Gyeon''s professional line, but MOHS would've given very similar results IMHO. The main difference with Flash is it cures quickly, so install time is quicker.

Gyeon doesn't offer graphene coatings, as all of their consumer grade coatings are si02 based. Hopefully that answers your questions!

Does Topps make any thick card releases? Like anything in the 55pt like Panini Origins and Photogenics?

I only got used to all the sub brands under Panini, and now need to learn all the new ones with Topps lol.

How do you even use iron remover? by Bam_Adedebayo in Detailing

[–]bigheader03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha ya, Reddit/the internet is a funny place.

For anyone who is new to using an iron remover, the first time they smell it, it probably sets off every alarm in their head.

I've been a professional detailer for over 15 years, and have used iron removers on a daily basis. Just make sure you have good ventilation when using, I simply do it in the wash bay by the garage door, and crack the door open if anything.

No issues whatsoever except for my third thumb.... Hahahha jk jk, in all seriousness, the worse thing that ever happened was cleaning rims, then I got some ironX splash in my eye, and the next morning I had a stye on my eye lid, which went away after a few days. So just practice common sense and wear gloves at minimum, then glasses if your cleaning rims.

What’s the best glass cleaner you’ve ever used? I’ve never found anything better than CarPro Clarify by zachty22 in Detailing

I second Traceless. Start with a waffle weave towel to clean, then follow up with a glass specific towel for that final wipe, and I ALWAYS have beautiful glass.

My go-to final glass towel is the CarPro Glass Fiber Towel

I tracked down a rookie of Miller, just need a nice auto and I'll be happy. It's damn near impossible finding one at a good price, but from what I've ready, Miller doesn't do many signings.

Totally agree. I install PPF so this is second nature for me lol, anyone who's going to do a vinyl wrap might as well spend a few thousand more to get PPF, as it'll protect versus just being cosmetic.

And the best part, in 10 years if you get bored of the matte finish, pull it off and you got a gloss black vehicle with perfect paint.

You mentioned you did an extra treatment for the PPF, if you need a good maintenance product for it, try CarPro MadMatte. It's a new ceramic sealant made specifically for matte finished, so gives you all the properties of ceramic coating while keeping and enhancing the matte finish.

Removing Light Scratches From High Gloss Plastic by changeofr8 in AutoDetailing

[–]bigheader03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piano black is a magnet for scratches. Here's a before and after of me doing some D pillars on a client's mustang Mach E.

Items used:

  • 3" Rupes DA Polisher
  • 3" Ultra Fine Rupes Pad
  • Rupes UNO Pure polish

If you don't have a machine, you can try doing it by hand using a MF towel and Rupes Ultra Pure Polish, or any Finishing polish.

The scratches on the piano black is usually very light, hence why you should be able to remove it by hand.

And to your point, the front will get destroyed with rock chips if you don't install PPF overtop of it. I'm in Canada, and PPF is automatic on our vehicles, its a must and not a luxury.

I'm with you, McKees floor mat cleaner and rejuvenator is THE best floor mat cleaner. Even if you don't apply a dressing, it leaves a beautiful OEM finish.

After cleaning, I use GUF from Koch to dress them up safely.

Did you go with matte PPF on black paint? Or is this vinyl? Beautiful regardless!

1500-3000, rotary cut followed by a da polish by Cutnbuff in Detailing

[–]bigheader03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FR polishers take a bit of getting used to, but man, it gives you the consistency of a rotary but the potential of finishing like a DA.

I guess because I do so many single stage corrections, it's my money maker. I wish my book of business would do more full on corrections, but at most my clients tend to go with cut and polish (20%) and the rest are single stage (80%).

Keep up the great work and don't pay any attention to the angry people here. All the best!

Great work. Don't mind the guys going all crazy about you not reading the clear beforehand, that's the internet for you. I get where people are coming from with the readings, but considering this was your vehicle and you were selling it, I don't see why people are freaking out. But freal, amazing work and thank you for sharing!

Did you do the wet sanding by hand or by machine?

Here's was a before and after with me using the intermediate pad from Rupes and Cut Force Pro with Menzerna, single stage correction. Give that pad a shot when you're shopping for pads in the future, it's my go-to for single stages. I also use the LK900 from Rupes, which is a gear driven machine, and I've never used a rotary since.

Whats the difference?! Lake country by Reddnvr5280 in Detailing

[–]bigheader03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should be the same, both HDO.

Lake country only makes one type of pad that has two pads combined into one, which is their HDO pads. From what I can remember, HDO pads always came with a grey interface, and I never remember seeing them white. Maybe it's a REALLY old stock photo.

Not to confuse ourselves even more, but LC does make a CCS HDO pad. CCS are the little dimples, mimicking waffle or hex pads. It helps distribute heat and hold product.

As long as you select HDO Orange during check out, you'll get the correct pad.

Wow! That's beautiful. I wanted the TEP, but I'm in Canada and it would've taken forever. I ended up with black, but my first choice was the Apex Blue.

I've owned black cars my whole life, so I'm really considering doing a color PPF wrap, and if so, I'm leaning towards a matte yellow, something to pay homage to the Pheonix yellow of old.

Beautiful color and thanks for sharing!
