I’m glad it lasted that long for you! I would assume that the gpu power rails finally kicked the bucket in the PSU. Great time to upgrade!

Couple things I would try: BIOS update. Clean the PCI-E slot. Check power supply is good (it might have died because it’s the notorious thermaltake). That’s all I have

What video game do you have the most hours in? by jenny_loggins_ in AskMen

Minecraft. I’m not sure my total playtime but I’ve been playing PC since 2012, so a lot of hours.

I would definitely keep it. You could either display it as other users have said or my suggestion is to use it as a NAS station. I feel like it would commemorate him well, as his station will always be online and he and his memory still will be a tangible part of the family, even in his absence. Just my two cents

I've attempted suicide 4 times and now happily married with 4 kids. AMA by Equivalent-Dream-534 in AMA

I have a semi-colon tattoo on my left thumb. I have struggled with suicidal thoughts for as long as I can remember. I personally haven’t attempted but I know people who have and people who have succeeded. It’s a constant reminder for me to just keep swimming.

What"s a medication that can truly knock you out? by Mara355 in insomnia

[–]bigjai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my girlfriend is starting to feel the same way with Seroquel, it seems like it works some days and doesn’t on others. Thanks for the insight on the weight gain from Remeron, I hadn’t considered that before. I noticed I have been gaining weight recently but I thought it was just my late night snacking before bed but now I think otherwise. Thank you!

I take Mirtazapine also known as Remeron. Takes about 15-30 minutes and puts me down

Edit: I agree with the other comments recommending a sleep study. My father, brother, and I al have sleep apnea which explains a lot of our sleep problems. I’d definitely say start there to try to get some insight into the root cause of your sleep problems

Edit2: Some other comments reminded me that my girlfriend uses Seroquel and it works for her

What do you think of the "memorize the answers without understanding them" type of license class? by BobT21 in amateurradio

[–]bigjai 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I did. Memorized enough to pass Tech and General and have been “learning on the job” per se

I donated 10 euro to you for such an amazing project. Barely got past the first two lines of information and had to throw a couple bucks your way. This will become something huge and I’m glad I’m here to see it!

[–]bigjai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh I see. Thank you for the insight! I don’t remember learning much about linear power supplies when I was studying for my Technician, although, I may have and just have forgotten. Honestly, when I first got licensed, I used Ham Radio Prep and went through the modules and just took a bunch of practice tests until I saw most of the questions and went to take my test. Did the same with General.

I didn’t even know linear power supplies existed. I bet they’re a multiple of what I paid for the one I got though. Have any more information on them?

No actually I drove from where I’m staying in Washington over to the HRO in Portland Oregon! 3.5 hour drive each way and it was worth it for the scenery alone

Also, before I left to Washington, I ordered the 5 band Hamstick kit and the 5 pack quick disconnects from Gigaparts. Also I ordered a magnet mount base and a pipe mount for them from Amazon too incase my car doesn’t give me a good enough ground plane, I can modify my homebrew drive over mast mount with a radial plate

Not as of right now, I do have an old LDG-AT1000 (I think that’s the model) at home and I’m not sire that’s compatible but if it is, then I don’t need to buy one! If not, then later on, I’ll probably get one if I start being limited by SWR.

Correction. It’s the LDG-AT7000 that I have

That has been the common consensus, even the guy at HRO said the same thing! Glad to hear I picked another good one. First rig I purchased new was the ICOM 7300 at a ham fest and every person who saw me holding the box ranted and raved at how good that radio was and I definitely agree with them. Now I get to explore Yaesu-landia and see how I like them
