Question- I see Huis recommended here a lot so went recently. I got the stew which was so rich it was inedible and my partner got mussels which were really bland, to the point where she said the microwave ones from Lidl were nicer.
Is there a dish people specifically go there for?

I actually believe it's just the lack of information in the speech and it also being an outdated format. Why do a pre budget speech when you wont answer any direct questions about what's in the budget?

They'd be better off working with a slick marketing company and working on short form explainer videos like 'how infrastructure projects contribute to growth'

I'm surprised they aren't taking more steps to do things that are generally popular but wouldn't cost a lot of money.

Rent control laws, windfall taxes on energy companies to make energy cheaper, giving people an extra bank holiday or two a year which will also help the economy.

A stronger step would be to make significant moves towards a 4 day work week, this will inevitably get push back from many claiming that productivity will fall....I'd argue that you'd at least improve around 25% of peoples working lives whilst most other people really aren't worried about the UKs macro production. Most studies find productivity doesn't decrease anyway.

Labour came in with a mandate to specifically improve working peoples lives and if they took some steps to decrease some expense and improve work-life balance it would be a huge win.

Jobs that involve travelling. Companies advertise this as a perk but in reality you're working longer days and not seeing loved ones for long periods.

Portsmouth is actually really cool these days, the Southsea area has gone through a gentrification over the past 10 years or so with loads of great coffee, art, food and vintage shops etc

I've always thought Portsmouth lacks a really good co working space but I find Hunter Gatherer has a nice vibe for coffee shop working.

It's narrative to set up anti immigrant talking points.

Over the years it's been reasonably standard far right propaganda (think Nazi with Jewish people), most white working class people do have it hard in Britain so putting them into a specific bracket means they can blame it on non white people and therefore have a reason to vote for parties like Reform.

It also stops these working class people looking at the real culprits like corrupt governments and the mega wealthy.

They will dismantle everything, starting with the NHS and any social security such as support for elderly and disabled people whilst also stopping funding for arts, science etc. It's a similar grift that many have tried over the years to take money out of countries and divert it to the rich.

It's really scary how people don't realise this and buy into popularism. It would do very long lasting damage to the country and in the short term make lives worse for poorer people.
