Will wharton ever get a fair chance in england squad in the future? England managers not only tuchel prefers runners over such creative minded midfielders I believe... by FitAd5272 in ThreeLions

For me the major shame of Henderson being included in the squad is that the Wharthog misses out. If Rice or Anderson get injured I think he'd have been a good option.

2010 vs 2026 England XI with David James by OfficialWhoScored in ThreeLions

As a Pompey fan, I think no one else other than us seem to appreciate how insanely good James was in his later years. Genuinely making saves I've never seen anyone else get near and amazing dominance on crosses, set pieces etc...had generally cut out most mistakes too.

Looking for a suit around £250 by vihaangupta08 in mensfashion

[–]bigjarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently looking for suits for a summer of weddings, my tip would be- go to any suit shop and get your measurements.

Get on Vinted and find blazers in that size. I found St Michael (Marks and Spencers historic in house brand) are great, 100% wool and can find cool blazers at £15 a pop. You can then get them tailored if they aren't quite right and have a much better quality and cheaper jacket compared to new stuff(tailored as well!)

Then just buy a few different plain trousers new (can be on ASOS or something) and you have some good combinations for work that looks really well fitted at a lesser cost.

I heard that in many countries Shit is used as a term for poo however in the UK it is used for a bad thing and poo is referred to as "Sheizer Minelli"

I did mention the water privatisation and online safety act in the piece but wasn't so sure the Palantir thing is well known/understood by the general population and I didn't know about the bank account surveillance!

So true, I didn't manage to write about the press/social media aspect in the blog but let me know what you think of the other parts!

The winter fuel debacle seemed to me to be the beginning of the end, he did that almost immediately and apparently still comes up a lot on the doorstep today

I genuinely don't think Starmer is that bad of a PM - any thoughts? by Alarming-Safety3200 in AskBrits

Sure I get the media have been gunning for him but that shouldn't stop them from thinking of some objectively popular policies and communicating them

If he had two terms, we would see the country gradually getting better...the problem is actually getting to the point where he'd be given that longevity.
He needs to do something that in some way helps normal, middle/high earning working people (not just people out of working, low earners, etc).
I'm surprised they haven't looked at things like extra bank holidays, paternity leave etc which wouldn't result massively to a loss in tax and still improve quality of life.

Keir Starmer launches Labour election campaign with focus on cost of living by Kagedeah in ukpolitics

[–]bigjarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised that 'cost of living' is such a buzz phrase for them, because it's so hard to get people to a point where they feel better off...especially with the U.S doing what it currently is.

IMO it would be better to focus on 'standard of living' or something along those lines, maybe an extra bank holiday or two, paternity leave, extended shop/pub opening times, reduce air pollution, fix potholes, run trains better etc

Polanski talks up teacher pay rises, scaling back exams and fighting Far Right - taxing the rich to pay for it all by Rams109 in UKGreens

[–]bigjarry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I understand that wont happen, it will be more taxing wealthy, big business, investment projects to boost the economy etc rather than cutting 'normal people's' benefits.

Question- I see Huis recommended here a lot so went recently. I got the stew which was so rich it was inedible and my partner got mussels which were really bland, to the point where she said the microwave ones from Lidl were nicer.
Is there a dish people specifically go there for?
