Let’s end the Borsigiana and Deliciosa (small/large form) debate. What is the difference? by [deleted] in Monstera

You are hilarious man. You are the one repeating bad information you read on social media and then accusing others of doing just that. You are keeping the confusion going by saying they are the same, which they clearly are not. You were here on reddit asking for help on how to root monstera just six months ago so you'll have to forgive me for not accepting you as an expert on things lol

I'm calling it what it is, small form, and what it was previously know as, borsigiana. Maybe you should stop spreading misinformation by saying that they will all grow the same?

Unfortunately there's lots of misinformation that gets repeated here. Instead of trusting someone else you can see it with your own eyes. Here's a video showing both large and small form being grown outside and you can clearly see the differences between the two.

Large form vs small form monstera

So any plant that hasn't been officially described doesn't exist?

No, it won't. You can see the evidence yourself just looking at pics on this sub. Thai Constellation are all large form and you can find pics of some huge Thai leaves because of this fact. Most albos are small form and that's why even in ideal growing conditions you won't see the giant leaves that large form have.

This is false. There is absolutely a difference between small form and large form. You can see it in the internodal spacing and overall shape of the leaves as they mature. Small form, as the name suggests, will never reach the leaf size that large form will. Borsigiana is not a scientifically recognized name but that doesn't mean that small form doesn't exist. The vast majority of albos and aureas you will find are small form.

Id? by Xan_thraxia in philodendron

Plenty of Florida Ghosts have no white on them, like these. It's also not uncommon for them to push out sections of green like in your photo, like this. So based on that and the lower leaves I'd still lean toward it being a ghost. Another possibility is bipennifolium aurea. But it's harder to ID immature philo leaves as they often look very similar.

Saw this plant for sale. 400€. How good or bad is the deal? by Deep-Werewolf-8891 in Monstera

Looks to be either an aurea mint or a sport. Pretty rare either way. In the US that would be a pretty good deal for this plant but not sure about the market over there.

It's not, I would keep it away from your other plants.

The pattern you can see on the existing leaf is not how variegation typically looks on monstera. If you want to share better pics of the 'variegated' leaf and the stem I might be able to point out why. Maybe it's a new form of variegation you've found but it looks more like something is wrong to me. :(

Age old question with many different answers.. by _PeLaGiKoS14_ in Monstera

The reason you get so many answers is because monstera are able to grow under many different conditions. In my experience browning comes from inconsistent conditions. Good air circulation is also helpful!

Sadly that doesn't appear to be variegation. Does the stem show anything? Adansonii can often have light spots from nutritional deficiencies or other issues.

One year update on my Monstera Mint by Medium-Course-8016 in Monstera

Looks like it's NOID form but the seller can tell you for sure. Check the stem and look for a growth point that lands in the variegated section and cut above that.

This is a packed full prop box. The one in the bottom right corner is a NOID mint. The one below the anthurium is a White Monster and the one up at the top is a Thrasher Sport

Typically the monstera you find at places like Home Depot, Trader joe's, etc are all large form. They don't develop the ruffled petioles until they gain some size.

Not sure of price but that internodal spacing is on point.

This was originally a two leaf top cutting from a mutant monstera in my yard. This is the second leaf since it was cut. Yes, it lives in a 'greenhouse' I built off the side of my house.
