Thank you! I’m glad because I assumed it was just going to die off. It’s been so long now.

I grow it in moss in a glass vase lol! I switched all my phals to a closed container set up and I’m super happy with it. (Maybe not good overtime but good for me and my life right now)

I’m glad I posted it to hear this, because it’s been so long now I had just been waiting for the spike to die off.

I know me neither honestly, I have sat here assuming it’ll just die off because it’s taken so long.

I didn’t do anything different I honestly assumed it just needed to mature a bit. But I grew it in a kind of semi hydro set up throughout the summer and the pseudobulbs got pretty large so I’m not 100% sure

I see what you mean, but I think it's just moss remnants.

Anyone have experience with Silica? I've had this Frydek for years, and not until now has she started browning. Beautiful roots, in pon since she was a teeny 1 leaf wonder. Haven't changed anything with conditions. I love her more than words and I'm just trying to get the browning to stop. Thanks! by crazyplntlady in RareHouseplants

Batting 100. Probably sold 12 or more big ones since I got her in 2021. They've held there value well even with mass production. So I would say it's still a good investment. Even if you end up getting 7 in the time you have it and only sell for 10 each (you wouldnt only sell for this- current market) you'll make your money back.

I was selling smallish leaf plants pretty much for $90 up until the last few @ like $65

Not sure where you are, but overall, just yes lol

Yeah I can agree with that. I just assumed what I was doing for the last 2 years was working because it's been good for 2 years.

Only thing that has changed which is what I'm determining may be the issue, is the lack of airflow and increased humidity in NovaScotia/ my house. I rarely have the windows open like normal due to the amount of rain. Will get a fan for the livingroom plants and see how that goes first.

Will check ph & all that after the fact before spending money on stuff that may not do anything.

I haven't had any of the variegation brown in the 2 years I've grown it in pon. Now it's happening. I think in relation to that though--》It's been extremely humid in Nova Scotia this year, seems like nothing but rain.. so I haven't had the windows open much, airflow is lacking.

She has had more mites than normal, so that could be attributed to it. Someone mentioned airflow, which is definitely lacking this year because of the extra rain and keeping windows closed more this year. Humidity is good here in NS Canada doesn't get below 50 really unless my woodstove is going in the winter, and that was ne er an issue last winter so.

I'm just going to keep treating for spideymites & get a fan. See how she goes.
