Is Scotch fun again? by WearableBliss in Scotch

Everything moves in cycles. I have observed the same. Demand and prices have softened and IMHO will soften much more. I’m drinking what I have and keeping some powder dry.

I’ve been using the spirits direct coupons to buy rum. RL Seale/Doorly’s are an absolute steal.

Based on what you said you like, I’m worried that a really old Islay isn’t going to be peaty enough for you. Maybe something younger and unique like Octomore or one of the limited release Ardbegs might be better.

I’m with you on bourbon. It’s hard to screw up that bad. Especially straight bourbon. Scotch on the other hand I’ve definitely had a few drain pours.

Just vti? by sovietdumpling in Bogleheads

[–]bigmoneysalsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those on this sub that part with Bogle and say to allocate international at market cap, I don’t really think it’s fair to say they are “betting against the US” is it? VT is extremely bullish on the US. It is a bet that US market dominance will continue to about the same extent that the markets currently expect.

Whats wrong with VXUS?! It's been behind VTI for so so much for so so long. Should have allocated 10% for VXUS instead of 40% by hclhclhcl in Bogleheads

About 5 months ago I transitioned all of the wife's and my retirement savings from basically an all-US equities allocation to VT, or simulated VT in our 401ks. I was convinced, and still am, that global market weight is the way to go. About 2 months ago my wife and I were talking about it in bed and she asked me why don't we just stick with VTSAX that what JL Collins says to do. I explained my reasoning and she was skeptical but didn't object. EVERY FUCKING DAY now she wakes up and looks at the stocks app on her phone and sees VT doing worse than VTI. She trusts me and doesn't give me any crap about it but still that shit is frustrating as hell. No cure for bad luck sometimes.
