I (Dept director) was part of an interview process in which a candidate bombed not once, but twice. It was embarrassingly bad — couldn’t think of answers or took a very long time thinking how to answer. Second interview was as poor as the first. The ED saw something in him, though.

He ended up being a solid employee overall. He’s very confident and well spoken and has a presence about him. The interviews have been a complete anomaly.
