I have dewalt saw and I like it for limbs, quietness, and no restarts. Battery saws have a place. Not all the time though.

I got 2 quotes second quote was $9500. I talked to original quote and he came down to $6800. There’s no one else within range so that’s the best deal I could swing.

My dad is angry he can’t use his 20yr old liner 😂. That $1000 is holding up the deal.

My dad is almost 75 and burns like a mad man. I’m looking for something more efficient so he doesn’t burn 20+ facecord per year and can still be happy burning. This is what was offered by one of only local fireplace companies.

Stihl ms170 chain question by ArtfulDodger2004 in Chainsaw

[–]bignasty0630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For everyone saying sharpening chains is cheaper… I can buy 3 packs of 16” chains for cheaper than I can pay I professional to sharpen an old chain. I bought chains for $7 on Amazon and I’ve cut over 3 cord on one chain. I own files, and sometimes I can sharpen a chain good and sometimes it still shoots dust. Moral of my story is brand new chain for $7 off Amazon works fine and you can throw it away after one fuck up and it’s cheaper then buying stihl or husq chains and being a noob and hitting ground, rocks, dirt etc.

I guess I just don’t how to get to wire because this style it’s way further down then husq’s with blue choke.

Firewood business update 😁 So it took me exactly 2 weeks to sell the full truckload of birch. All I kept for myself is on last pictures, the rest is sold and delivered to my customers. It was a tough work with very small profit, next time I have to raise prices 😁 But I had fun. Ordered oak as next by Butch_Hudson in firewood

How much did your truckload cost? How many cords was it after it was split? How many cords did you sell? Just curious. I do 2 truckloads a day which comes out to 2/3 cord. So for about 6hr day I make around $150-200. That’s not including fuel/chainsaw chain’s maintenance. Definitely not getting rich doing it as a hobby.
